practice
Does anyone know how practice has gone so far? I know they have just started but I was just wondering.

Re: practice
Kind of wondered this too. With all the additions that should help us offensively, how will we be defensively? Are we spending a good amount of practice time there in the beginning to develop? Or is it a balance of offensive and defense.

Re: practice
I dont know the answer but I love that this thread has started a mere couple days after practice started. Excitement is refreshing.
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man" -
Re: practice

Obviously you need to post more. The kids can learn to make their own bottle of formula. Get them out on their own sooner. -

If you wouldn't mind I'd like to know your thoughts on Laron Dendy. I think he could be the key to compliment Brackins down low.

Re: practice
Brackins tweaked his knee again...should be fine, just taking it easy.
Vanderbeken - stress fracture.
Oliver is sick
Christopherson bruised thigh.
Dendy is very athletic, good rebounder...Does a nice job of getting second chances on offense. Would like to see him play harder longer, but definitely brings energy to the team(a lot like Boozer did last year). Boozer looked good.

Are they going to mic up Mac this year for a practice? That was always fun to see.

They should have mic'ed up Fennelly yesterday...very entertaining, if you're not a player. -
Re: practice
It makes you wonder what goes through a recruits mind if they see some of the practice. Maybe there was a different "tone" when Randall was visiting.

YouTube - Iverson Practice!
But seriously, I'm interested as well. I didn't know what Marquis Gilstrap looked like until I saw a pic of him in the Register a couple days ago. Haven't seen a physique like his on the basketball team in a long time.

Re: practice
I've heard a couple of near Eustachy-like rants (not quite, but close) from Bill...break em', then build em' back up.

From seeing a few McDermott practices (including the one where Randall was there) they have a much more upbeat "family" atmosphere feel than some others I've been at (ie: Eustachy ). Don't get me wrong, they get after it and are definitely held accountable, but it doesn't seem like the "fear and dread" type of feel like many other D1 practices. I've heard McDermott get ****** and bark at them, but even then there's usually a huge paw on the player's shoulder soon after where he's explaining what the player should have done.
FWIW I am very impressed with the amount of time spent on fundamentals and details in practice...tons of station work with a lot of individual time for each player...you never see a guy just standing around waiting during practice...

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.” http://blogs.dmjuice.com/?cat=43
