Who plays?

I know it's early and all, but I am wondering who is actually going to play for us, not just start. As I see it, these are the players who have the potential for playing time.

Guards:
Buckley
Garrett
Colvin
Staiger
Christopherson
Boozer

Forwards/Centers
Brackins
Gilstrap
Dendy
VanderBeaken
Hamilton
Pomlee

I'm guessing Oliver, Dorr, and Palo, won't be playing (two are redshirting?) I have heard/read that the rest are in the mix, which is a good thing.

That list is 12 players deep, I'm not sure how many coaches would work a 12 man rotation (if any, unless they were running some sort of gimmick system). So the question is, who probably won't be playing?

I'm going to take the easy pick here and say Pomlee is out, down to 11. Does a 9 man rotation sound good? Who else won't be playing?

Or am I completely off base and we are going to rotate 11 in?

I don't think Pomlee or Boozer will get much playing time this year only because we are so deep, which is nice.

The last few spots may end up being determined by who wants it more. A little competition can bring out great things.

As I start to think about it, I think Colvin won't be playing that much.
I think Boozer will play if he can hit his shot and continues to be a shot of energy.
I think Staiger loses some time to Christopherson (he is just more complete then Staiger).

The competition will be good. I have been reading so many comments on CF about how deep we are, not everyone is going to play.

Yea Pomlee and Boozer i cant see getting much playing time. Other than that we finally have a bench now.

thats how i see it going down with Boozer getting some of DG min when we need some more D. and i see Buckly getting Christophersons min when wee need a big body at the 2 spot.

I think 12 is too many to play. I don't think Pomlee and Boozer play much this year. They'll see a couple minutes here and there.

I just can't see Colvin coming in as a freshman and getting a lot of minutes at the start. As others have said, I think he can work his way in, but we thought Buckley would do that also.
Time will tell, and I won't be disappointed at all if he is starting by the time we enter league play, but I'm not convinced that will happen.

We're not used to actually having 12 guys who could play. I'm sure more guys will see time early but I don't see more than 9 getting much time by the conference season.

Having that much depth also creates great competition in practice. Getting a good look during the week in practice is very beneficial. I am excited for this b-ball season to get started!!
