    Jay Bilas on Craig Brackins...

Craig gets a mention on Jay Bilas' Top 10 players with the Most to Prove

    Craig Brackins, Iowa State:
Brackins had a great season last year and put up some eye-popping numbers. In 2009-10, he will have some better talent around him and will have to be even better because of the responsibility on his shoulders. Brackins is a hard-working rebounder and a versatile face-up power forward. He can step away, has a very nice touch on his shot and has improved his stamina. The test now is to do it in the spotlight and to take his team to the NCAA tournament.

Sounds like the recipe for a top 5 lottery pick.

I have always liked Jay as an analyst. He really knows the game and knows how to speak the game to people.

I don't think anyone is going to take a 23 year old in the top 5. The NBA loves potential.

Probably true, but I think if ISU makes it to the NCAA tourney, I gotta think that vaults CB into the 6-15.

IMO, Craig has more upside than Marcus Fizer had at this point. Marcus did deliver, the question is, can Craig? Craig hasn't even come close to what I think he is capable of. If he does, high draft pick.

Fizer had almost no upside. He was what he was.

Re: Jay Bilas on Craig Brackins...

This was pretty much a straight forward breakdown of Brackins. Nothing earth shattering here...

Andy Katz was pretty generous with his praises of ISU and CB last week on ESPNU and the Big XII review.

Part of the reason Fizer was so good is that he had a fantastic point guard feeding him. Tinsley was ridiculously good and he made things happen for everyone around him.

Jay Bilas does his homework, and isn't influenced by hype or where a player plays. I really enjoy his commentary in general.

Tinsley was absolutely ridiculous. I've watched a lot of college basketball the last 20 years and can't remember many point guards that could absolutely take the ball to the paint at will like he could. To say he made everyone around him better is an understatement. We had the perfect recipe going that year...dominant big man, strong role players that played D and rebounded like crazy, shooters to spread the floor and a point guard that could absolutely control a game.
