How does Phillips compare to Gilstrap athletically and skill wise. I know they are at different positions but can Phillips be the type of impact player we're hoping Gilstrap is?

Ejim + (Barnes or Phillips) = 2 commits.
We will likely have room for more commits, but it looks bad to oversign like that in the early signing period. If Barnes commits we are likely waiting until the late signing period to take Phillips..... kinda like last year when we waited to announce the Dendy commit until after Mann left the team, opening up a scholarship spot for Dendy.

I am drawing a blank, who is a senior besides JVB?

Re: New commit for next year
Regarding Brackins I can only say this. If HB comes here, I give a 75% chance of Brackins staying. The potential there may be enough to sway him into staying another year.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

This is my thinking. JVB and Gilstrap are the only seniors. Brackins might leave but it looks really bad if you give away his scholarship before the season even starts. If Brackins does leave, then we're losing Gilstrap and two bigs and potentially replacing them with Ejim, Barnes and Phillips? That makes no sense. I think Phillips will have to wait until the Spring. That's when the coaches will find out who wants to return and who wants to leave. If a guard wants to leave, then we can sign Phillips. If we sign Barnes and Brackins leaves, then I look for the staff to recruit a Juco power forward to take Brackins place.

Assuming we sign Barnes, would you be willing to let Phillips take our third scholarship now (before the season even starts) and then take your chances next season with just those 3 guys in the middle? We haven't even seen Pomlee and Dendy play yet. -

I think 3 things all have to happen in order for Brackins to even consider coming back. #1- Barnes signs with us Friday, #2- The team makes it to the NCAA tourney and competes well, and #3- Gilstrap gets his 6th year. I think CB only considers a return if all 3 of those take place b/c he knows that we would be a contender w/him, Barnes, and Gilstrap leading the way.
