Maybe he'll take into account these other schools only want him to go there so they can win and coach gets paid. McD has to be the one who cares the most about Harrison and Harrison doing well, but obviously it helps his job as well.

Neither does Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, or most elite Universities. That doesn't mean that they don't prepare you better for the world of business than UNC would.
FWIW, the general rumblings from the UNC and Duke fan bases at this moment are that Duke is the more likely choice of the two. It's far from unanimous, but that appears to be the general sentiment. I know a few UNC players, Dexter Strickland and Ed Davis, expressed that they were hearing Barnes to Duke a few days ago.
As a Duke fan, I'll be honest in saying that I didn't consider ISU a possible destination throughout most of this recruitment. Recently, though, I've come to believe that ISU has a significantly better chance than I gave them credit for. Still don't believe ISU is the most likely destination, but I'd be more surprised to see Barnes go to UCLA or OU than ISU.
I think we can all agree that Friday can't get here soon enough.
Yeah, nice post. You are really reaching here.
I think we all know that the schools on the list already pay their coaches, because, unlike McD, they have all won big games. Every coach on that list, including Capel who has been at OU the same amount of time as Greg has been here, has played in at least an Elite 8 game.
If you don't think that they all have this kid's best interest at heart, then you are saying that HB is a bad judge of character, possibly even questioning his intelligence. Probably not what you were trying to say, but the execution was not very good.
And, as everyone found out when the details of Greg's contract came to light, he is getting paid, and has a lot of job security.
And it was all because HE turned in Jiri. That is still one of the funniest things that I have ever heard as a Cyclone fan.
"Coach we are going to put this provision into your contract that if you self report a violation, you get this extension that basically prevents us from ever firing you."
You have to see the humor in that.
Well the first part is because when Duke and UNC are in recruiting battles for elite recruits, the kid almost always has his home town school on the list and yet rarely chooses them (the exceptions have tended to be for schools like Washington, Georgia Tech, and Florida off the top of my head).
The second part is for a few reasons. First of all, as we've learned throughout this recruiting battle, Harrison Barnes is not your average elite recruit. The second reason would be because with the total lack of reliable information, I tend to take him at his word that he's considering all 6 (even if I never believed they were equal). And I suppose the final reason is that from reading this board for close to a year, the fan support and area connection to ISU seems to be above most other schools and thus I can see how ISU is a reasonable option for anyone who grew up in the area.
All of that makes sense. Many don't regard ISU for doing anything in basketball, but I've said before, we have a strong basketball history with a few hard breaks. A lot of national pundits don't seem to acknowledge this, and that goes equally for the fans of the elite programs.
whereever he goes...I just hope he is happy with his decsion
HES GOIN TO I-WHAT??
I think he's coming here. Every day, I'm more convinced. And, of course, I am going on as little as everyone else. But I'm looking forward to Friday.
[QUOTE=ce1;1343902]Here's my take, since i know everyone is super-interested in it :jimlad:
5. Throw Duke out - wants a business undergrad school, this is more of a business grad school. Plus, elite private school doesn't seem to be HB, as indicated by his commitment to stay in Ames his senior year.
Was there a chance he would be elsewhere?
There were plenty of rumors swirling (thanks again, Marty) that HB would go the prep route his senior year to better prepare himself for future competition. For whatever reason (false rumor and never considered it, loyalty to school, love of Ames) he didn't.Quote:

This doesn't mean that Duke can't prepare a student for business, just that they, like other elite schools, are encouraging multi-discipline studies at the undergrad level. One of the ways they do this is to only offer business degrees at the Masters level.
I know and have worked with several Stanford, Harvard, and Penn business school grads. All were post-grad masters.
