Which would you rather have?
Since my research shows that I am one of only three members who have not started a thread on HB, I figured it was my turn.
Which would you rather have:
1). HB's signature on the dotted line.
or
2). Convincing wins against Colorado and Missouri

Re: Which would you rather have?
HB, with non-convincing wins over Colorado and Mizzou
-
Re: Which would you rather have?
I'd like both. However, since I have to choose, I'll take the football wins.

Re: Which would you rather have?
HB's signature, because the football games don't need to be "convincing" wins... I'd take any win

Re: Which would you rather have?
We have already over impressed in FB this year. Give me HB.

Re: Which would you rather have?
Barnes by far, for two reasons.
1) Barnes would be an absolute gamechanger for the Cyclones. It would bring national attention to Iowa State and could vault us back to prominence on the court. That gives the program major momentum, much moreso than a mid-size bowl game.
2) The second option is completely in our control ("our" being used in the general sense of Cyclone Nation). We've done everything we can to get HB to come to Iowa State, and in the end that might not be enough. If we're making wishes here, make it something out of our hands. Winning two football games doesn't require cosmic intervention.

Re: Which would you rather have?
Convincing wins over Colorado and Missouri. I would LOVE to have Harrison Barnes sign with us, but it's still an "accomplishment vs. potential" thing. We know that Rhoads getting us to a bowl game in his first year would be huge for the football program and help our recruiting effort, as well help us sell more season tickets. We think Barnes signing with ISU will make us a pretty good basketball team next year.

Re: Which would you rather have?
I'll take Harrison and one of two of the football games to become bowl eligible.

Re: Which would you rather have?
I must be one of the other 2 people who have not started a thread yet

Winning two football games doesn't require cosmic intervention. Well put. Best answer I've seen to a hypothetical. The football team is more than capable of winning their last two without help from a magic genie that only grants one pre-determined wish over the other.

I don't see the distinction between "knowing" Rhoads will help our recruiting effort vs. "thinking" Barnes will make us a pretty good bball team next year. Both are speculative (i.e. "think").
I'll take Barnes by a landslide. Going to a mid-level bowl vs. signing a future NBA player who will make us either a NCAA Tourney or Big XII title contender (depending on the pieces that he has around him - Gilstrap, etc.) is an easy choice for me. But, then again, I remember raucous place Hilton was in the 90s and very early 2000s and I'm not certain if basketball is as big of a deal with the current student population as it was back then. I wouldn't be surprised to see a decent amount of people pick football.

Re: Which would you rather have?
Barnes hands down, but then again I like basketball more than football.
