Williams: Time to Move On | Cyclone Fanatic
Good wrap up. Fennelly has it exactly right.
“TRUE CYCLONE fans need to give OUR team a great response tonite– WORRY about the ones we have who ARE Cyclones!!!!”
Now that is a true Cyclone! Thanks coach Fennelly.
Agree.
And thanks for taking down the big HB pic on the front page!
Great story, Chris. The end reminds me of Hoosiers, when the fans are calling for Jimmy at the pep rally. Coach Norman Dale says, "I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not." That movie never gets old, and that line is so true, and hope fans keep that in perspective...
Let me just say I think we are going to be special this year. Dendy, Gilstrap and Colvin are just nasty athletic. I can't wait.
Onward and Upward. If he doesn't want to be part of something special at a University that has done absolutely everything to help him get to where he is... I don't want to cheer for him anyway. I'm an Iowa State fan, not a Harrison Barnes fan.
How in the world did Greg Mcdermott not sign this kid?
What else did he need?
He had this kid on a silver platter, and he still blew it.
His Dad played for Iowa State.
Harrison Barnes grows up in Ames Iowa and stars for the local high school team.
His Mom works for Iowa State.
Mcdermott's son plays on the same state championship team with Barnes.
We spend millions on a practice facility that we're told is going to be the greatest recruiting tool ever.
Barnes isn't coming to Iowa State.
Because he wants to play big-time college basketball, and ISU has a small-time coach.
.
I wish that I was in Ames tonight to cheer on our team! It is my dream to one day see a game in Hilton...
I would think that it wasn't McDermott that made him shy away. Hes an 18 year old kid, and ultimately its his choice. I would be dazed and thrilled too if UNC came calling, and hell, its a chance to get out of Iowa (not saying Iowa is a bad place). He could be a part of a national championship team, and that would be cool to say down the road.Quote:

Its an all about me mentality. While HB may be a fine young man, alot of that I am sure was from his upbringing and living in Iowa had much to do with that. Giving back to ones Community is a great way to pay them back for all it has provided for you. His mother works at ISU,he lives in Ames! He would have been the big man on Campus had he stayed. Now, he will be just one of many.
Evidently he wants to go pro. Great! But if he is as good as advertised, he would of been a high pick no matter where he played his college ball. The only difference would have been he would of been able to take us Iowans in general and ISU in particular along for the ride.
Again….. It’s all about me, message received loud and clear.
I think this will be my only post on Mr. Barnes.
Good for him and he made a good choice.
It hurts, but hey it's pretty hard to compete with all of North Carolina's tradition. What can you say when Michael Jordan meets the kid and tells him North Carolina is a great place to go?
It is time to move on and I'm glad this distraction is finally behind all of us.
The one thing I disagree with you on Chris is losing tickets sales. If we have to rely on one player to pack Hilton, we've fallen a long ways from the glory days when Johnny Orr was in town.
Hilton Magic is made by the fans, not the players...
Harrison, I'm rooting for you up until the moment we play you!
Attaboy Bobber! Too bad more people do not have your attitude.
