To Anyone Who's Mad at Harrison
Excuse him for wanting to play for the team that just won a national championship. You shouldn't be bashing him for not choosing Iowa State, it's his decision...not yours.
Also a lot of you are sort of being sore losers. Calling him immature for picking UNC in front of Cyclone fans is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Since when does having the press conference at his school mean he's going to Iowa State? It's not like he was going to fly out to Chapel Hill to announce his decision.
All I'm saying is you should be proud that someone from Ames is getting the opportunity to play for one of the most elite teams in the country. Iowa State is going to be good this year and McDermott will be fine down the road. It's not the end of the world.

Re: To Anyone Who's Mad at Harrison
If your angry at Barnes, channel that energy into cheering for and support for Brackins and this team! Much better use for your emotion to spend it on a true Cyclone like Craig Brackins than on a Tar Heel!

Re: To Anyone Who's Mad at Harrison
He can pick whoever he wants. Just tell him that if he is doing it in Ames, not to invite the community and then skype Roy Williams on a big screen. Not in Ames, Iowa! Ames is home to ISU before it is home to Harry Barney.

Re: To Anyone Who's Mad at Harrison
Im not mad at Harrison. Im mad that there are 50 other threads that this could have been put into. I just want to see todays sports now. Oh and **** UNC.

Re: To Anyone Who's Mad at Harrison
Great to hear from another HB fanboi.
And another new thread even, awesome!
Yes, go Harrison go! I am so proud you took the courageous step of being yet another All-American to choose UNC. How bold!
And the way you kept ISU in the mix all the way up to the end, even leading many locals to believe that ISU was going to be your choice, so that people wasted time out of their day to watch you and Roy have a good old laugh at everyone else's expense, especially Coach McDermott's and the ISU community. That sure was fun for Cyclone fans.
Cannot wait to cheer you on in the future Harrison, especially after all you have done for.......no wait.........to me as a Cyclone fan. All I can say is ........ thanks!

Its an all about me mentality. While HB may be a fine young man, alot of that I am sure was from his upbringing and living in Iowa had much to do with that. Giving back to ones Community is a great way to pay them back for all it has provided for you. His mother works at ISU,he lives in Ames! He would have been the big man on Campus had he stayed. Now, he will be just one of many.
Evidently he wants to go pro. Great! But if he is as good as advertised, he would of been a high pick no matter where he played his college ball. The only difference would have been he would of been able to take us Iowans in general and ISU in particular along for the ride.
Again….. It’s all about me, message received loud and clear.

Re: To Anyone Who's Mad at Harrison
Yeah, I'm sure that HB's overriding thought during the lead-up to the press conference was, "Man, it's going to be so much fun p1ssing off all those guys on CycloneFanatic.com"....
Seriously people, get a grip! In the Q & A session that followed, HB was asked when he made up his mind. His answer was Tuesday/Wednesday, basically two and half days before this afternoon. What should he have done? Called ESPN two days before and said, "Hey, don't come out, even though your production people are probably getting on the airplane as we speak."
I can understand feeling let down and disappointed that he made his announcement at Ames High in front of a bunch of Cyclone fans that had high hopes BECAUSE he made his announcement at Ames High, but to sit here and cry that he's not an Iowa State fan anymore because "he led us on" and broke some hearts is frankly quite absurd.
Hate away.......

You're making a HUGE assumption that Harrison had ISU in the mix yet this week. I don't buy that at all.

The best schools put up a fence around their state, and that includes fans. You pick another school over the local one? That is fine. But just know that you burnt all sorts of bridges by doing that.
You think Penn State fans don't care when Pennsylvania kids go to OSU? Or Alabama? Or how about Austin, you think they put up with local kids going to Oregon when UT had offered?
In my opinion there is not enough pressure on local players to stay local. I guess in this respect Iowans are too nice. We were too nice to Collison and Hinrich and LaFrentz. They could have probably had just as much success and still made the NBA had they stayed local.
It is for these reasons I don't cheer for kids that spurn ISU for greener pastures. They already have plenty of cheerleaders.

How about just taking us out of the running when he should have so he could have all 10 North Carolina fans living in Ames at his presser. Hope he enjoyed the theatrics.....punk!

And the biggest UNC fan was his mother Shirley. Now she can brag to all her fellow Iowa State University co-workers how well her son and UNC are doing.
