Re: Quote from Mac on Barnes
I can't imagine what this would feel like for Mac and his staff. Imagine spending 4 years at work working on the same project trying to secure a bid or get a customer and having all four yeras be for nothing. Ouch.

While this one probably bites a little more, losing just plain sucks no matter how you put it.

Hmm...would really like you to expand on those. Because, as an Iowa State fan, I thought the Clones had a very realistic shot at getting a home grown kid to play for the school he grew up rooting for. And I also think that Iowa State had everything to offer that any of the competition did in terms of conference competition, academics, friends, family, etc. Those, at least to me, could very easily have offset the tradition that schools like UNC and Duke have.

That doesn't change the fact that Barnes led Iowa State on. I'm not going to give confidential information from other sites but I've read some tidbits that REALLY made it look like Barnes would be a Clone. If his choice wasn't going to be ISU, he should have eliminated us earlier. Instead he kept six schools including ISU in the running to heighten the suspense. Do you think all the local media would have been focused on this all week and all the fans would have come if Harrison said he was choosing between UNC, Duke, and Kansas? I don't, and apparently Harrison didn't either.

We didn't have Michael Jordan on our side.....

Was he supposed to grow up in Ames and decide that at some point he may not go to ISU so maybe he shouldn't use all means possible to hone his skills? Seriously, how old are some of you jokers? There's a bunch of soccer moms on this site.

But what I didn't realize or think about was the fact that no one here would have given two ***** about the rest of his recruiting journey if he had gone ahead and eliminated us like he should have about a year ago. HB and his handlers knew what they were doing here. They kept the locals engaged by keeping us on the list as the token home town school.

I'm a competitve sort, I don't like to lose. I've been raised to be gracious in defeat, it doesn't mean I have to like it. Congratulate the other team, yes, but be happy for them no.
I don't know Harrison and never will. Had he come to ISU, I would've followed him and wished for all the success for him the world, but as the cards have been played, he's now an adversary and merits no well wishes from me or any other Cyclone fan. After today, I hope he loses on the court. I'm certainly not a Duke, Kansas, OU, or UCLA fan, but I hope that if any of them play UNC during his stay there that he may be defeated by each of them.
I'm not a big NBA fan, so when he reaches that level, I'm not likely to follow him, as I prefer to watch the college game and not a bunch of selfish millionaires. I'm sure he'll make it to that level, but he'll be no different than the lot of them that exist there already.

Someday... Maybe HB will realize what he did to us.

He claims to be an ISU fan, but fan means fanatic. You wouldn't ditch ISU if you were a true fan. He obviously wasn't a true fan.

Re: Quote from Mac on Barnes
As I said before the signing, I truly believe Mac did this exactly the right way. It didn't work out, but that's 17 year olds for you. I'm pretty sure I didn't appreciate the people that helped me along until I was in my mid-twenties, and realized what a self involved butthead I was. Mac will be fine. Plenty of kids and parents will realize what he's all about, and ISU basketball will be perennial tournament participants. -

Another thought- as a salesperson, I know what it's like to pour your heart and soul into something, only to be disappointed on a regular basis. The thing is, you learn more from the ones you don't sell than the ones you do. -
Re: Quote from Mac on Barnes
I'm glad our official representative in Coach Mac can atleast have some class regarding this situation even if most of the fans apparently can't. Very well put by him.

3TrueFans, are you Harris Barnes or just a fanboy of his?
