Re: For the Sake of Comparison
Gotta say, not a big production there.
Nobody gets to the point in an announcement like John Wall.

Re: For the Sake of Comparison
The signs are all pointing to HB really marketing himself. He did a helluva job doing it. I did think the Skype video was bigtime cheesy.

Re: For the Sake of Comparison
Does anyone know what day these took place? Were they on the Wednesday signing day or did they wait 2 days until a Friday? The way the HB announcement unfolded, why couldn't the announcement have been held on Wednesday of the National Signing Day instead of Friday? Seems like ESPN wanted to stick it ISU too.

Re: For the Sake of Comparison
What's sad is that Harrison Barnes's ostentatious display yesterday will be come the standard for top profile player announcements now leading to every one trying to top the next.

Agreed. I am predicting the next top player will fly in the mascot of the school he chooses and hides them in a limo to come out when they want to reveal it...

It sure will. He set a new standard yesterday, and it's not going to be a good one for anybody.

Re: For the Sake of Comparison
I saw a quote from Harrison in today's CR Gazette in which he references himself in the third person. He basically says.... "UNC was just the right place for Harrison Barnes." Gag me. This kid is fooling everyone. His ego is quite large. He'll fit in perfectly under Roy Williams. In fact, the more I see of Harrison, the more I wouldn't see him fitting in at ISU under GMac. GMac doesn't allow such huge egos... while Roy loves egos.

Naw....he'll do it Lee Corso style and put on the mascot head. Followed by him giving the bird to all the other teams' fans then jumping into a swimming pool of money.

THAT was funny!!!

Re: For the Sake of Comparison
It sucks because I firmly believe he's a classy kid, that just got caught up in his own hype.
He came across as very unclassy in the way that he let Cyclone fans know that ISU was not good enough for him.

This kid has been a legend on this board for the past 2 years, and not ONE person has ONCE questioned his character. In fact, I bet you could find 1000+ posts EASY with people giving evidence of what a class act he is, how smart he is, how great of a speaker he is, and so on.
Just because he chose another school (albeit in a really cheesy way) doesn't make him any less of a class act. He's gotten caught up in the hoopla of being the #1 basketball recruit int he nation... but then again, who wouldn't?
Those of you who are attacking a 17 year old kid, who, up until yesterday was a god, need to get ahold of yourself. You knew the chances of him coming to ISU were pretty slim, and most of you admitted that to yourselves. Now that it's become reality, let the kid go.
Good grief.
