Craig made the good decision to go to Brewster Academy and get everything straightened out. He has been a great ambassador for Iowa State University and will forever be remembered as one of our greatest basketball players.
As for Jok, he has been to several football and basketball games at Iowa State, but I'm just saying don't get your hopes up. he has duke, kansas, north carolina, kentucky written all over him and with Luol Deng being his cousin, well you get the picture. And lets not forget the little tar heel from Ames is probably already prepping him for Roy's love tap.
Issues aside Brackins was a great get for the program and he proves that we can and WILL get good players to come here

If Jake is already involved with the kid then there is no chance he's coming to ISU. He's already probably told him to "keep his options open". It sickens me that he wouldn't try to get these great players he's "mentoring" to go to his alma mater. what is his angle anyway? why does jake keep getting involved with these high school kids??

every kid is different. some are loyal to their aau team. some to their hs team. some to their state. some are just opportunists looking for the biggest spotlight they can find. there's no reason to assume jok's loyalties, or lack thereof, are the same as barnes'.

He is an AAU coach. He also doesnt like Mac.

Re: Future Basketball Recruit
Jok is pretty much the reason he split from Jensen and the All Iowa Attack. he wanted to get more Des Moines Talent and I think a top talent for 2013. -
Re: Future Basketball Recruit
Goldfinger and jhill,
If you have both given up hope that Iowa State can't land any top recruits then why do you spend time writing on a thread about one? In your opinion then, what should we do about recruitng. Should we just start hangin around pick-up games and hope one of them is good enough that we should offer them?
Why not go after the best? What does it hurt to try? And with the team poised to start winning who says we can't compete w/ the national powers for recruits. But then again, maybe your right. Maybe our basketball team should just settle for mediocrity because that's all were ever gonna be...according to you guys anyway

Re: Future Basketball Recruit
Peter Jok. About 6'7" out of Roosevelt. Graduate of 2013. I am in his class. When my team played him he is very coordinated, and has a nice shot. He put up 20 on us and also dunked on us, when we were in 7th grade. This kid is good, and it's in his history. His cousin is Longar Longar, that played at Oklahoma. We need to get this kid, he will be good.

My point was that I don't think they will ever get one of the nation's elite recruits if they are going head to head with Duke/UNC/KU, etc. That's ok and not an indictment of McDermott or Iowa State. They couldn't keep a kid who grew up in the backyard of Hilton, probably growing up dreaming of playing there -- and whose mother works for the university. A kid whose good friends with the head coach's son and who was friends with team members. Really, if they couldn't beat out the big boys for him, what makes you think they can ever beat them out? History? Give me an example of beating UNC, Duke or KU for a recruit and I will admit being wrong.

Just because we haven't won a head-to-head battle in the past doesn't mean that we can't in the future. Never say never. We should keep putting ourselves in position to succeed. Remember Coach Rhoads said he had to teach our team how to win. I'll bet that doesn't consist of saying that we'll never beat the big dogs.

That is a good question. If he is going to keep kids from going to ISU then hopefully not too many play for the guy...I don't know the first thing about Jake Sullivans program, alot of kids play for him so it must be a good thing he has going. What happend to the Martin Brothers being the Top AAU program in the state. Maybe they still are, just wondering.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
