The thing I liked about this game is how quick I State was able to get out of a slump. We started out ugly... turnovers... bad shots... the whole works. But we didn't ride it out till half and make adjustments then. They turned things around by the 5 minute mark and built a 44-22 lead by half. Things weren't going well for Craig and Gilstrap early. But they didn't let the bad falls get them out of their game.
Craig almost had a double double by half and rebounded extremely well. He displayed an unstoppable jumper throughout the game.
Gilstrap droppin some treys really started to show his scoring ability this game. (And continues to rebound well too)
DG was a little more sloppy than we've seen so far... (but he's set the bar so high and had a good game overall and got to the freethrow line a few times). Continues to put up the assists like crazy.
Colvin... I love his game... but hasn't had much success finishing at the rim in contact so far this year. I know he can... just hope it comes around by conference.
All in all... fairly solid play by all those not mentioned. Mistakes here and there.= But they all did a good job helping Craig and Gilstrap get their points.
I wasn't impressed with the officiating this game.
Much better job rebounding as a team. But we need to hit our free throws better.
Oh and a final note. Craig attempted a tough putback dunk that flew 20 feet in the air and dropped back in with a swish. That was pretty cool. I hear he'd been working on that one all week.
This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
Really happy with what I'm seeing so far and am excited that McD has the opportunity to use these tune-ups games for what they're really for - tuning up.
Rebounding much better this game. Field goal shooting still good. Free throw shooting not so hot though still. That really has to improve, IMO, before conference play starts.
Glad to see MG get some points. Wish Lucca had scored more, just because. DG is impressive with his assists. Was glad they continued to build the lead in the second half. They have not always done that this year.
I remember last year when scoring over 60 points was a struggle, now it seems like scoring under 70 points is going to be a struggle. This years team is night and day compared to last years one.
