& back down to earth
We didn't play great tonight, but it is obvious that this is not a team that can win the Big 12 or go deep into the NCAA. We are much better from previous seasons and I think we still will get into the NCAA, but us getting into the NCAA will be similar to us getting into a bowl game- by the skin of our teeth.

I think it is a little premature to paint this team with that broad of a stroke this early in the season. We were missing one of our most talented players and NW played about as well as they can play tonight. I still think we are in for a special year and we will learn a ton from this win.

wow one loss and people are giving up.. March is a long ways away with a lot of good teams to beat.

Re: & back down to earth
Let us not forget that the 99-00 team lost to Drake in the second game of the year. I'm not compairing this team to that team, but one loss will not define our season. It may be cliche, but sometimes you learn a lot more from a loss than you do a win.
"I loved it dearly for the experiences, for the people. I've never seen people embrace you with love as much as they did when I was in college," he said. "They just opened up their arms. I'm proud to be a Cyclone. They gave me a chance when nobody else would." -Ellis Hobbs III -
Re: & back down to earth
We have a lot of room for improvement, which can be a good thing as long as we improve. It's early and this team will get it together for UNI on Wednesday, for sure.

Re: & back down to earth
I'm not ready to panic yet. If we lose our next two, then maybe.
Let's just beat UNI and put this behind us.

Re: & back down to earth
NW is a average team, not a good team. We didn't play well, but unless this is the fluke of the season, there will be other games were we don't play well. Combine that with some extremely good teams that we can't beat and this team is looking at around 20 wins. I never thought that this team was any better, but some on here were getting over excited.

Re: & back down to earth
How good IS Northwestern? They are missing their two best players from a team that lost in the first round of the NIT last year.

It's one night, and we didn't win. Now we have had an experience that every other team in the country will have. We're all going to lose games. This will happen a handful of times again before the season is out. It's just how things work.

Brackins will come back strong. Losses like this will only fuel his desire to succeed.

I think if you review our schedules through the history of the program, all of our good teams have losses like that, especially at Colorado.

They are definitely above average. I don't know if I'd say they're good though.

Re: & back down to earth
Why can't we merge this with the other postgame thread? As with others that will undoubtedly be started.
No need to have so many threads saying the same thing.
If anyone would have set down their Cardinal colored glasses and cup of Kool-Aide... you would have known there was a VERY real chance we could lose this game after seeing the way this same Northwestern team handled a TOP 25 team last night.
