Yes. I mean put them in the good seats in spite of the big donors.
Yes, I know donors pay the bills. How much $ does the big boys get in donor $ again? Tell me again where the students sit? How many students attend? And why are those schools considered "big boys?" I'll give you a hint, it does not have to do with where the students sit at games.

Re: Time To End Cyclone Alley!
So the argument is if we weren't required to wear a certain shirt and didn't have stupid organized cheers during free throws, then people would be more likely to get on their feet when they play "Jump Around" over the PA?
CA sucks, but give me a break. Read the game thread and post game thread -- how many of those people would have been jacked up at the game? For those of us who actually follow the team, we realized the abomination we were witnessing. It was depressing.

How does that work?

Heres an idea ... open up one side to sit on the donor section. make it small section, maybe 10-15 rows make it first come first serve. That way you will have the most devoted fans on tv and right next to the court. Then leave the other half of student section behind the basket. donors can still sit right on the court on the other side and find other ticket holders to sit behind the basket.

Just an idea because what I think we can all agree on is we want the students to be the loudest in they can be. I know two people who are on CAC, both are die-hard cyclone fans not just padding their resume. I would love to give them constructive criticism on what to do, but it is hard to have CA without the CAC, if you tell CAC to just chill for a game, it would be worse than what it is already. CA has kind of come to expect that, but I'm sure if CAC sent out e-mails telling them to let lose, where whatever you want, and be as obnoxious as you want to be. No CA cheers (which outside of cyclone power there really are none), props, gimmicks, what have you. Just let them be them for a game.
I'd like to see what happens.

Of course, the team would beat teams we've heard of at Hilton back then too, so I don't know if it's a chicken or egg thing.

The first 10 rows were the ones not standing up at all (not even in the last 4 minute). I doubt they are going to enjoy a bunch of obnoxious fans sitting next to them at games.

But do you ever notice where they do sit? Look at Duke, UNC, etc. The students have the best seats in the house.
I also say this because when I went to school (the "glory years"), the student section was not isolated, but spread out around the whole stadium. We didn't have the best seats, but most of the time they were better than behind the backboard.
I know winning had a big impact in it, but even in the not so good years (1998-1999) Hilton was much more boisterous than it is now.

Re: Time To End Cyclone Alley!
Anyone remember the yellow shirts they gave students with the football season tickets (or maybe it was some all spots seasons tickets) back in I think 2000 that said "If you can't see STAND UP AND CHEER!"
I loved that shirt!

That is similar to what was done in the past. There was a rotation, and IIRC, a lucky few got some killer seats. It wasnt first come first serve though.
I never was a fan of Cyclone Alley, mainly because students deserve better seats than that.

And I have been in the front ten rows the past three years for every game and at nearly every basketball game. The football student section just gets into the cheers more and loves to sing Sweet Caroline. Other than that, how are we helping out the team? This is a big thorn in my side because I tried for a while to get people to get louder....they just don't want to do it. Take it from someone who goes to both football and basketball games and sits outside the student section: at football games the student section is FAR more intense, filled out, and generally impressive than basketball games, and it isn't even CLOSE.

Re: Time To End Cyclone Alley!
So... no fans of giving everyone a shirt with their ticket like they do for the student section in football? (And I do mean EVERYONE)
Really though... it's not the only problem with the student section or the rest of the fans in Hilton, but is still a problem

Pretty sad since bball is smaller and in an enclosed space, and the students sit opposite of each other so there can be competition between sides or cheers that alternate
