Wrong personel on the court. DG has by far outplayed any other guard to this point this season. I think your point is correct in theory, we just have not seen those two consistently execute well to throw 'em in that kind of game and expect good results.
Your posts are completely opposite as of any other time. Usually I'm being critical of DG and you're defending him! :)

Re: DG
DG did a lot of good things on defense yesterday too.

Wrong personel on the court. Last night maybe, just because we could not get feeds down low where DG has excelled at getting assists and creating good shots this year. Last night UNI completely shut that down and it would have been nice to have a PG in there who is a better shooter & has a better chance of making FT's.

Plus, UNI was not going to let Scott or Lucca shoot...So what is the defense giving us? skip pass(which we missed) the crowd saw it, post up to Ham/Gilstrap, and DG.

Re: DG
I really like DG...he never ******* and he trys so hard. I would love to see him pump his fist or slap the floor...show a little emotion.

DG is our Jacy Halloway in that teams don't guard him. That allows a man to face guard Lucca while still doubling Brackins when he gets the ball.
But do we really have a PG that is a good 3 point shooter?

But do we really have a PG that is a good 3 point shooter? DG is our point guard when we are getting pressure. Buckley needs to be the point guard when they are sagging.
I think Colvin fits both, but didn't understand why he didn't get more time???

Re: DG
This likely will get me shredded, but oh well.
I'd be more critical of Craig in the last 2 games than I would DG. I am well aware UNI focused a lot on him. However, if Craig is a high lottery pick like all of us expect - he should be finding ways to work through this stuff. Countless other top flight players on other teams with similar levels of talent around them are still able to score at will even in the face of double teams.
CB is a great athlete and Cyclone - and he's not playing bad. I just expect more from him in both production and leadership.

Why not slide him to the elbow, give him space, let him square up, or put it on the floor. Nope, we post him up and end up with 3 defenders(baseline).

Re: DG
I just can not figure out for the life of me how his shot seems to have not improved really at all since he got here. This might make me sound like a DB but I really think that I am a better shooter than DG. The complete lack of respect for his shooting last night from UNI was simply unreal...a complete slap in the face. Did he take advantage of it? No. I agree that parts of his game have improved and I'm not saying bench him for good what happens when other teams decide not to guard him and he keeps missing shots? 5 guys basically guarding 4...and in the half court you get exactly what we saw last night. Lucca has problems getting free and Brackins has trouble getting it in decent position.
Last night was a real eye opener for me with DG. I hope he can at least knock down a few shots are we and he are in trouble.

Re: DG
DG is the new version of cory Macintosh in McD's system. One pass then get out of the way. The only reason he has "good" numbers is that we have no motion. It is a one pass and that person shoot because every one else stands around and watches. His turnovers are low becuase there are no risks taken. He does not penetrate, he does not make risky passes, He does nothing to make anything happen. So what can he do? Shoot? No. Beat his guy off the dribble and get easy layups? very rarely. Make tough passes to guys that are flashing open for only a few seconds? No. Colvin at least tries to make things happen. He is a freshman and makes mistakes for sure but at least he does not play just not to make mistakes. -

Re: DG
I mentioned concern about DG's lack of shooting prowess 2 weeks ago and it was poo-poo'd. A PG has to shoot well enough to keep the 'D' honest. I'm not blaming DG for last night though.
