First Play of the Game Tonight
I'd love to see us come out and try to smash Iowa in the mouth instantly with an alley-oop dunk seconds from the tip. That would set the tone and it would show a little fire. I think this team, partly because of its coach, has been lacking some fire/intensity recently and we need it if we're going to win the big games in the Big 12.
Does anybody else recall how Kansas under Roy Williams used to come into Hilton and try to run a lob play dunk right from the tip? Lobs to Pierce, Lafrentz, Collison (or was it Gregory); it always quieted a whipped-up Hilton crowd and they converted it 75% of the time. It really set the tone that they were here to play hard (even though we usually beat them).
I want to see that from our Clones tonight. Even though I've yet to see that kind of statement or guile from McDermott yet, I still hold out some hope that he can change. Light a fire and get after it!!!!

I think we should run a reverse to J.J. Moses. -

Its not like the crowd would get into it or anything. They would still be in their seats doing a golf clap.

I hope we can make some more tonight and get back on track.

Re: First Play of the Game Tonight
Perhaps an over-and-back 2 seconds after the game starts. Seems to be a winning formula.....

Make that a nice dunk by Brackins right in Jarrrrryyyydydd Cole's face, and set the tone that this game is not last year, but a whole different beast, and it's a winner.

We just to run this to start the game about once in every 3-4 games (we ran it to Todd Blythe actually). He would win the tip every game and would job to about the 3 point line, get a back screen and it worked damn near every time...then he again he did have a crazy vertical compared to the kids we played against...

Onside Kick!!! Very important lesson learned... NEVER pass up the opportunity to acquire a bottle of Templeton Rye... NEVER. -
