Re: Recruiting Next Three Years
I don't really follow recruiting and I don't want to get into a detailed analysis of any particular kid and his abilities.
But I do have a serious question...what is our recruiting strategy / focus under the current coaching staff. From my perspective, they don't really seem to have one...they seem to be kind of blowing in the wind.
Let me explain, under Orr the strategy was clear...1) use longstanding relationships with HS coaches in Michigan to pilfer some quality kids from that state every year, 2) work the Illinois / Chicago area every year, and 3) try to get the best HS players possible from Iowa to round out the team.
Floyd used his contacts in Lousiana and Mississippi to recruit from as well as the JC system.
You get the point. McDermott and his staff seem to be all over the place...like this latest kid from Oregon. They don't seem to have any pipeline to an area and, more importantly, don't really seem to be trying to build one.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

num1 - strategy is very clear/simple. Recruit Iowa, Wisconsin (milwaukee), Illinois (Chicago), and east coast prep schools (brewster). Use Juco's to fill in the gaps/transfers. Look under every rock possilbe for any talent over 6'8".

Re: Recruiting Next Three Years
There are like 6 kids on this team from Wisconsin, seems like a pipeline to me. Otzelberger recruits WI and has some ties to the West coast (Brackins and the new commit), plus Coach Robinson is working Chicago (Colvin and he is on Randle). So there is pretty clearly a strategy they have, but if you see a kid such as Railey at an event and he will help your program, you don't pass on him just because he isn't in your general recruiting area.

Probably looking for a 3 and/or a 4.
