Gilstrap Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the third time
IRVING, Texas—Iowa State senior forward Marquis Gilstrap was named Co-Big 12 Rookie of the Week Monday for games played Dec. 28-Jan. 3 by a panel of media covering the conference. Gilstrap won the award for the third time, garnering Big 12 Rookie of the Week accolades on Nov. 23 and Dec. 21. He shared the award with Baylor’s Ekpe Udoh.
Gilstrap was instrumental in the Cyclones’ 82-75 double-time victory over Houston Sunday. The Covington, Ga., native scored eight of Iowa State’s 13 points in the second overtime, en route to a 17-point, five-rebound performance. Gilstrap made 7-of-13 shots from the floor and blocked three shots.
For the season, Gilstrap is averaging 14.8 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds a game, good enough for a tie for fifth in the league, respectively. His five double-doubles on the season leads the team and ranks second in the Big 12.

crazy to me his scoring avg is that high... ill bet if he could slow himself down a bit, and see the game a little slower he could avg 20 per game... if he could drive under control, he would be great...
