What happens if we win by 40 tomorrow?

If we win by 40 it will mean nothing! Absolutely nothing. I know this is hard for people to understand but beating teams like NDSU or Mississippi Valley St means absolutely nothing to us. We aren't going to the NCAA or even the NIT by beating them. We have beaten teams by 30 three times this season. Those wins don't seem help us beat Northwestern, UNI, Cal, or Duke.

I know posters like to get on the board and go off the deep end when we lose, but there are also posters that say EVERYTHING IS GREAT when we beat a horrible team by 30. Both are equally annoying in my opinion. Both taking ONE GAME to try and prove a point about where the direction of the program is headed.

No one is actually saying that. You know that, right?

Also, is seems like you are trying to stop people from enjoying it when the team they support and cheer for wins a game. In general, people are happy when their team wins, yet YOU are trying to tell thing that they can't be happy because the win "doesn't mean anything".

How about, for one day, we just let people enjoy the win?

You may be the worst poster on the board. You never state anything of substance but rather try to argue with everybodies views. That is fine sometimes but you always do it. Did you realize that you can just reply to a thread without quoting another poster? Try it some time. You might like it

And I am not saying that anyone is saying that in this thread, and I am also not saying people can't enjoy a win. They sure can! But there have been many times where we have won by 30 over some no name school and posters start a thread about how great the team is and make sarcastic comments like, "McDermott OBVIOUSLY doesn't know what he is doing!" Like beating a team by 30 is some gigantic feat.

for some reason I assumed that posting a person posted on a message board to express publicly and debate their views. Now I know that you are overly sensitive about your "views" and I will not question them in the future.

There are just as many posters that say "EVERYTHING IS HORRIBLE" and (unsarcastically) say "McDermott obviously doesn't know what he's doing" after both wins and losses. Like beating a team by only 20 is a horrible stain on the team. And when you say that in response to someone enjoying a win, it is EXACTLY telling them that they can't (or shouldn't) enjoy the win.

Yeah the great Bawbie hit a sore spot with me. I make a single post and you come at me saying that I am "telling" people how to act. How do you get that out of my initial post? But it is what you do all the time bawbie. To everybody. Your act gets old. So I finally said something.

If you read my initial post you would see I agree with this. It is annoying when the other posters dive off the deep end to. Why can't we just be who we are? A mediocre team. We aren't awesome (even after a 30 point win against a bad team) and we don't suck (even after a 21 point loss to Duke).

Your last sentence is laughable. By me telling my opinion or point of view, it is me "telling" them what to do! Ha

To me, that is telling people that if winning a game like today's means something to them, they are wrong.

Maybe it's not what you meant, but it's how I interpreted your post. Maybe you should be more clear in what you mean next time.

See what you did there Bawbie. You took something very basic and you twisted it into the worst way and then responded on that. That is what you always do (if that is a personal attack than I apologize)

I hope fans are excited if we win by 40 today...they should be. As far as what it means for our basketball team, it means nothing. That is my point. That is what I was trying to get across. Us beating a really bad team by a lot of points doesn't prove that we are any better then we were last week. It doesn't put us any closer towards going to the tournament. We are what we are...a team that beats a less talented team by a lot of points but struggles against teams of equal or greater talent

No, calling me "the worst poster on the board" is a personal attack. Or am I "twisting that in the worst possible way" too?

I'm not going to change how I post on this board just because I offended you. I'm going to continue quoting other posters (

as frightening as that is) and pointing out when I think people are overreacting or wrong.

You'll just have to figure out how to deal with that.

Like many, I get tired of threads that want a legitmate discussion getting hijacked by the fire GMAC group, but I still read most of this stuff because every once in a while someone does make an intelligent comment worth reading.

For all of you that enjoy anonymously ripping the team and the coaching staff in the middle of the season instead of intelligent discussions of options of what to do with what we have, good luck getting and keeping a good job in the business world where team work on projects that are not going well is critical.

You never offended me Bawbie. You annoyed me. You did to me what you have done to others on the site many times. You took a simple post by them and turned it into something it wasn't. And quoting is fine, if you add something of substance to a thread. You don't. You simply break down others post and tell them how they are dumb

No doubt. People are far more likely to need to vent when their upset. You don't need to vent when you're happy.

And how excited can you get over pounding a team like NDSU? Sure, we won, but we damn well better. Wouldn't it be fun to celebrate a win over a decent team? If we were to beat Texas, I guarantee this board would be going nuts. Unfortunately, there is as much of a chance of that happening as there is for my back yard to turn into a tropical beach.
