Call to Action: Fans
Everyone complains about how Hilton Magic was "not what it once was." Well that's one of the few things we can control, as fans, so why complain about it? Why not do something about it?
Today's atmosphere was amazing. Hilton was rocking, and even though the "magic" didn't get us the win, we competed with the best team in the nation and came close. We need this kind of effort from the fans the rest of the Big 12 season, and I believe we will finish in the top half of the conference for the first time in too long.
We need to get behind this team. I don't think it's a coincidence that our best "energy" and "effort" came on Hilton's loudest night of the season.
In the words of Marquis Gilstrap in the post-game show: "This was the funnest game I have ever played, our whole team fed off of the crowd."
That quote should say enough. Go Cyclones!

Re: Call to Action: Fans
The magic died a little early in the second half when Texas blitzed us with that 10 point run. The borderline Cyclone students just couldn't roll with us after that. It was "Well this was fun for a little while" and they just never got back into it.
For about 20 minutes though, the magic was lurking.
My hands were red, my head hurt from yelling, and my voice was hoarse at the end of the game. I tried.

That quote should say enough. Go Cyclones! insert "like" into that quote from strap in about four different places and it will be dead on. the man sure can ball but he is a baaaaad interview!

Re: Call to Action: Fans
The crowd was getting so loud in the first half, my TV started to shake!
(Not really, but I was probably concerning the neighbors with the amount of "WAAAHOOOOO"s "YYYYEEEEEAAAAAH!"s they were probably hearing from me.)

Re: Call to Action: Fans
if that wasnt hilton magic, i dont know what was.....i can't talk and both my hands are bruised from banging the seats. i love how gilstrap said that it motivates me to be even louder haha

Re: Call to Action: Fans
1st half = B+ 2nd half= C-
Definately the best showing of the season but don't pat yourself to hard on the back, not even remotely close. Place was a morgue in the 2nd half with only a 5pt deficit, and then half the crowd left with 2 minutes left, wtf.

Re: Call to Action: Fans
We need to bring it every game and good things will happen. If the crowd brings that much energy I just don't see us playing bad at home the rest of the season.
-
Re: Call to Action: Fans
The fans feed off the team doing good. It goes both ways. If they give the fans something to cheer about the place will get loud.

“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -
Re: Call to Action: Fans
I don't think fans can get an A or A+ until the place is full. That said, there was a pretty good atmosphere tonight.
Maybe the slight lack of fan support at the beginning of the second half (before UT's 10-pt. run) could be correlated to the halftime entertainment tonight which was less than stimulating. Just an idea.
