Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
Geez
Forgot about Tisdale. Also was the Oklahoma game where they wore socks on their hands here?
And how about Lewis Lloyd coming into town. What a great college player he was.

The year a highly ranked KU team with Raef LaFrentz came and lost.

'01 ISU vs. KU
This was also a nationally televised game on CBS.
Two top 10 teams at the time. Waiting outside before the doors opened...in the cold.....then had to wait again because pansy Roy Williams had a closed practice before the game. Chanted "Roy likes boys." Unreal noise during the game, loudest I have ever heard the place get.....me and my buddy started the "Chen-o-worthless" chant behind the hoop. Oh man....great game and great victory for our Cyclones.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
Definitely the Lafester game in 87. The dorms kicked everybody out for break by noon that day. We had nothing better to do than go to the game when they opened the doors at 6. Had 5th row center court seats(thank you lottery!), and as has been mentioned in the past, you could not hear the announcer during the introductions it was so loud.
And there was a badass snowstorm that night--took 5 hours to get to Iowa City, almost got stuck at a rest stop when we stopped to call ahead to Clinton to say we wouldn't make it that far. Had no problems staying awake for that drive.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
Witnessed the Lafester night. Sold my tickets (good $!), then went to the office and purchased tickets for the next game we could get - Northern Illinois.
Went in the gate, kinda covered the ticket, and the dude ripped off the stub and let us in.
Had to walk around a lot. Sat down for a while in some empties, then someone shows up and says they are his. I was about ready to say F-U, but then I said, okay, you can have your seat Governor Branstad.
Found a seat later. Despite all the moving, I hardly missed a second. It was awesome.
Missed the Okie State game & I could have went. Will always regret that. One of my best friends went, and he is a huge Hawkeye fan. He said it is the greatest basketball moment he has ever been a part of. When Darwyn Alexander shot those free throws, I don't think it could get louder than that. I believe they started selling ear plugs at the concessions after that one (or maybe I did not realize they did until then).

#20 ISU 102 - #7Iowa 100 (OT)
Lafester Rhodes 54
Many to choose from but this one really stands out for many reasons.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

It was a packed house because of Bobby Knight, I would think, and the atmosphere was electric during that run to tie it up before halftime. It was awesome. This would be at the top of my list. That whole stretch of that season was INCREDIBLE. My cousin was visiting from Winnipeg, and prior to that game, he had been a Hawk fan. He now bleeds cardinal and gold because of that game. If I remember correctly, there was a special ceremony for Johnny Orr at half time, and the crowd was just electric through out. A very special day in Hilton.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
The best game I ever attended was in, I believe, '92 when the Cyclones came from almost 20 down at the half to beat then #2 Oklahoma State. ISU took the lead on a basket AND ONE by The Mayor, then made a terrible mistake and fouled the best FT shooter the Cowboys had, Darwyn Alexander. When he stepped to the line it got so loud the building was shaking. He missed them both and Hilton went NUTS. It was the loudest I have ever heard it to this day.
