Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
For me, it was the '87 win over Iowa when Lafester went crazy. I remember it was during the presidential campaign season and Jesse Jackson was in the stands for that game. I also remember Pete Taylor talking during the post-game how he pulled up next to Lefester at a stop light earlier that day and Lafester roled down his window and shouted to Pete that he was going to have a big night tonight.
The feeling after that game was like the feeling our football players had in the Nebraska locker room earlier this year.

Just kidding, students challenging older people to be louder is a Cyclone tradition that is as old as Hilton.
I have been impressed w/ Cyclone Alley (minus the classless "you suck" that has ruined an ISU tradition during starting line ups) this season and last week especially.
You are fine, the adults are fine and ISU will be fine long after we have stopped attending and others have replaced our seats. At that point, the issue of students calling out "old people" will STILL exist.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
Not sure the best but one of the most memorable for me was with the Harrison brothers when the crowd got under the skin. Then one of them was dumb enough to throw something in the student sections (wrist band maybe) - I was shocked we didn't storm the court to kick the **** out of them but I do remember how fast they had about 50 security members around the court!

Two top 10 teams at the time. Waiting outside before the doors opened...in the cold.....then had to wait again because pansy Roy Williams had a closed practice before the game. Chanted "Roy likes boys." Unreal noise during the game, loudest I have ever heard the place get.....me and my buddy started the "Chen-o-worthless" chant behind the hoop. Oh man....great game and great victory for our Cyclones. this

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
There have been so many I don't think I can put my finger on just one, but I will say without a doubt it came from the Johnny Orr years.
Likely the OSU game or perhaps a Mizzou game (had Bayless and Thigpen) where we came back from big deficits and won.

It was simply amazing! The noise was sooooo loud I could feel it resonating within my chest like high amp amplifliers can do at an especially loud concert.
But a close number 2 would be the Iowa game within which Lafester went off for 54.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
A couple from the Johnny Orr days. When we beat #2 Minnesota, after being down by 6 with 26 seconds left in the game. Beat em in OT but Peterson had a shot to win with about 5 secs left in reg. Then the game with Missouri when Barry Stevens went off for 40 or 42, the last shot from top of the key, rattling in for the win.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
I have a lot of great Hilton memories over the years; however, my personal favorite was also February 15th, 1992. Cyclones 84 - #2 Oklahoma State 83. That was a great OSU team with Byron Houston and Big Country, Bryant Reeves. We were down 18 points in the 2nd half and stormed all the way back. '91-'92 was the fresman year of Hoiberg, Meyer, and Michalik. The fans rushed the court afterward and we were the lead-in story on SportsCenter. Hilton was CRAZY LOUD that day!

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
2001 KU at home... Crazy atmosphere and it was freezing outside. Donuts froze, gallons of milk and orange juice froze, coffee froze... They let us all in an hour earlier than they were supposed to as they were afraid we were going to freeze. I sat second row up in the arena, at half court. Hilton was LOUD... You couldn't hear the person next to you unless you were yelling in eachother's ears.
Do they still play the wizard of oz before the kansas game on the scoreboard?

I was a freshman the next year. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone told me about being at that OSU game.
The best game I was at was the KU game the next year. A lot of people that were at both games said that was a close second.

Re: Best game attended at Hilton?
The two loudest games I have witnessed at Hilton were:
1. The Fizer dunk over Mihm
2. John Neal coming off the bench and hitting the threes against Iowa
