Lucca is a defensive problem and Christopherson is getting his chance because of this. Christopherson made a huge drive and pass off to Craig for a big dunk at the end of the game which was crucial. Craig almost never gets open looks off an assist. Dendy's improvement has been huge these past two games. Looks like, right now, at crunch time in the last ten minutes its: Brackins, Gilstrap, Garret, Dendy & Christopherson. Craig is a stud and the other players benefit from the other team's def. plan. That's pretty spot on...were you ease dropping from behind the bench? -

The man can score, everyone knows that. His game is becoming much more versatile due to the different defenses he is seeing. This. But at some point do you think other teams finally realize the Gilstrap is going to kill them too so they quit double teaming Brackins?

Re: Brackins
Yes, I was watching the huddles & McD's actions. Craig is really getting in the other player's faces, in a good way. It has to be frustrating for him to face doubles all the time and get virtually no assists off guard's driving the lane. Garret goes to the hole very well but if you notice, he almost always goes all theway to the hole or stops, occassionally at 8' and shoots a banker. This is because even when he drives the big guys are still staying on Brackins. The only time they did not was when Christopherson drove the hole with less than a minute and he dropped it off for the MOST crucial play, a big dunk for Craig. IMO this team needs Christopherson/Colvin to play more 2 guard and drive & dish or shoot 3's.

That point will be when we string together some victories against tough teams. If Gilstrap scores 30 and they still beat us, then other teams have no reason to change their strategy.

I'm waiting for our defense and offense to play well on the same night...Hasn't happened yet.

We haven't played an "A" game yet. The best game we've played was Texas, and we played an "A" game in the first half, but overall I'd say it was B+ at best - mainly because of the big fat F we laid in the first 2 minutes of the second half.

Brackins is still one of the better PF's in College, his numbers are down a little because his touches are down. Our offense went through Brackins last year, which is not the case this year.

Throughout the last few games we have started seeing the offense run through Gilstrap rather than Brackins which is awesome. Gilstrap is starting to get more points through offensive sets rather than offensive putbacks, fast breaks, etc. That alone is going to open up Brackins and the rest of the team.
I know we had some miscues in Lincoln but they found a way to win which they have not been able to do on the road.
The only player I am really concerned with is DG. He still struggles to finish (although he hit a huge jumper off the glass the other night) and can be so careless with the basketball. Careless and basketball are two words you don't like to see in the same sentence when describing the player who handles it the majority of the time. Unfortunately, he is all we have currently. I do not trust Buckley for extended minutes. I really hope Colvin can shape his attitude up because he has the ability to be one of the best point guards ever to play at Iowa State.

He's a high energy guy that is constantly moving.
Brackins is dangerous when he gets the ball in the
post which is a much easier double.

If it was my decision...Double with Garrett's guy.
