Re: ISU vs Texas Tech - Thoughts/Prediction?

We are starting to see some confidence, gelling, and hustle out of this team. I'm going with the Clones 74 - 68.

What the heck. I think our players are better and our coach is better, and we've got confidence going in. We take it 72-64.

Expecting the worst outcome is no way to live.

Same prediction for the upcoming Kansas and Oklahoma games as well?

You are right, but I've been conditioned to adopt this disposition by default.

That depends on what happens in the preceding games.

Re: ISU vs Texas Tech - Thoughts/Prediction?

Tech is much better than that 0-3 conference record. I didn't expect much from them coming into the year, but they did pull off some decent wins in the non-con, though a couple of those wins don't look so good anymore.

Singletary & Roberson are both pretty talented and will cause us the most problems. I really want to believe that we've righted the ship and have the right mentality to go down there and get a win, but we have to get a better performance from Brackins. We won't be able to afford another 6 point effort out of him and still survive.

If this team has truly embraced a winning mentality and a winning effort, this is a game they can and probably should win. I'm going to remain cautiously reserved on this one, because Tech has the right amount of talent to win this game.

Most Cyclone fans have taken their share of kicks to the nads.

It depends on the preceding games? But the Nebby result has no influence in the positive for Tech?

Re: ISU vs Texas Tech - Thoughts/Prediction?

Tech is currently #49 in RPI, so this certainly won't be an easy game, but will help our RPI tremendously if we win.

Ken Pomeroy, on the other hand, has us at #67 and Tech at #91. He projects Tech with a 1 point win (77-76).

Unlike the Nebraska game, I think this game is played in the seventies, which I think is to our advantage (but I'm not sure).

Tech's last 8 opponents have all scored 75 points or more, and that includes McNeese St. It would seem like they are struggling with defense right now.

Looking at the stats, nothing really jumps out at me. Tech isn't great at any one area and isn't bad at any one area. They do attempt fewer 3pt shots than almost any other D1 team (only 23% of their FG attempts).

Their post players don't score a lot, but both (Cohaderavic and Roberts) average over 2.5 offensive boards a game, and Singletary is a good rebounder too, so we definitely need to keep up the good rebounding from the last couple games. Like us, they tend to get and give up a lot of offensive rebounds. In the OT game against Missouri there were 53 total offensive rebounds! (26 for Tech and 27 for Mizzou).

The defensive key for us is definitely the on-ball defense of Garrett and Gilstrap on Roberson and Singletary. We need to keep them out of the lane. Offensively I'd say, like usual, we need to go through Brackins. Make them defend him first (they'll have to double) and then go from there.

I think we can get a lead early and maintain it at around 10 the whole game - as long as we REBOUND!. ISU 79 - Tech 71.

I say a close one, Iowa State 70, Tech 68. It'll probably be a back and forth affair.
