Craig is from Palmdale. Not the inner city.

Diante's dad was an NBA player, I don't think he grew up in the slums of Milwaukee.

Chris went to one of the best public schools in the country, I don't think that was a hardship.

Maybe Buck is from "the inner city" but I doubt it.

Anyway, it seems to me that all 4 of those guys have developed well (so far) under McDermott.

You are taking it personal. I understand enough to know that no kid - NO KID - is a gaurantee. Did you have the same reaction when a certain cornerback of ours was booted before the bowl game? Had to have been for selfish reasons. It is what it is. Staiger did what he flet he had to do. THAT IS THE LANDSCAPE OF COLLEGE ATHLETICS if I didn't make my single point clear. Did he "quit" on the team? Yea. So what.

    3 walkons? seriously?
    1 had academic problems
2 decided they just weren't cut out for this level of play

The fact that only 1 of the players that left said anything remotely bad about the coaching staff makes me think that how the staff acts isn't the problem. Maybe they aren't bringing in the right players for this level, I'll give you that, but I don't think the actions of the coaches are running players off.

Gmac's contract is for 9 years which by my guestimation means that roughly 25-27 SCHOLARSHIP players would leave his progream if this rate kept up...You can't give the "McDermott has bad luck" excuse---the program is on the front page of ESPN.com (most widely read online sports site in America for the past 6 years) for attritions, suspensions, etc...

I have never been a fan of Mcdermott being hired and have been surprised at the talent level he has brought in, but the fact remains that he cannot coach athletic, inner city kids. This is not in anyway racist, disrespectful, etc---its the truth...
I'm trying to come up with the 11.
    Lucca
    Pomlee
    Eikmeier
    Mann
    Wesley
    Taylor
    Dodie
    McIntosh
    Corey Johnson
    Marcus Brister

Count up how many scholarship players didn't finish their eligibility under Floyd and Eustachy.

    Paris Corner
    Lee Love
    Delvin Washington
    Jerry Curry
    Ricky Morgan
    Shane Power
    Tim Barnes
    Chris Alexander
    Ivan Churiev (never made it)
    Jerome Harper (never made it)
    Imari Sawyer (never made it)
Austrailian point guard (never made it)
    Brandon Hawkins
    Zach Fortune
    Thomas Watkins
    DeAndre Harris
    Rodney Hampton
    Lamont Sides
    Marcus Clark
    Lamar Gregg
    Tommie King
    Adam Schaper
Kyle Brumm (may have been a walkon)

Thats 22 (maybe 23) I can come up with off the top of my head and a little research. Pretty much the same average as McDermott has had per year. I'm sure I'm missing a few. 5 years from now, how many of us will remember the names Clinton Mann or LA Pomlee?

    Morgan's 3 years
    Reggie George
    Robert Faulkner
    Aaron Agnew

A better average than anyone, but I really wonder if Taggart, Evanovich and Marsden were going to stick with it.

Okay, Staiger quit on the team. Forget the rest of my argument that wasn't boiled down to the Webster definition of a single word. I remember now why I don't actively post on sites like these.

Well I think it is time to go to bed and see how Coach Mac can take this team and bring them together and be successful. Which I could hope for nothing less then that. Chris Williams is right and everybody else that is saying lets take a step back and get some of the emotion of what happened tonight and get our heads straight and be there as fans for OUR team!!! Good night all.

Your responses are always so impressive. Brock and Cam were walk-ons, yes. So what? They still quit. Tyler Norman was asked by GMac to walk on....then left supposedly for the way he was treated.

What about all the others? All were GMac recruits. All were players he thought were good enough to come to ISU and play Big 12 basketball. All left or had to leave the team for one reason or another.

Anyone who thinks GMac is doing a good job with this program is delusional. No program has these kind of defection or losses if things are okay within the program.

As you can see in my other post, Eustachy and Floyd had these exact same type of problems.

Both got lucky with 1 juco/transfer class and didn't have to start from scratch.

Not saying give GMAC all the time in the world. I still think we're an NCAA tournament team this year and at least a bubble team next year. If we end up NIT or less this year and revert to 12-18 next year, I think he's gone.
