    Bill Fennelly's Twitter

Here's from Bill Fennelly's Twitter: (I am not sure whether someone has posted this before, if so, just ignore this post)

"Greg McDermott is one of the BEST people I know-HE IS COMMITTED TO IOWA STATE-we need 2 support HIM not people who LEFT-- "

I respect everyone's opinion: the supporters of McD and the ones who think McD should go. Personally, I agree with BF because simply, as long as McD is still our coach, I will still support him. Am I disappointed ? yes. Do I want different coach ? Yes, if the team doesn't go to NIT/NCAA this season. But until things change (e.g JP decides to let McD go): I will support him and THE TEAM !

Sorry - I should have posted this under "ISU MBB" instead of "WBB"

i understand that he is a great guy and i definitely want him to succeed but at this point, it just doesn't seem to be working, but we still have a lot of games left, let's just see what happens

I think it's natural for BF to support his coaching colleague - I bet it would be different if BF was the AD here. He's be looking for underlying reasons for this high attrition rate. As in, what kind of players is Gmac bringing onto campus, or why can't he inspire loyalty?

I don't think there is a single person on here that wouldn't be supporting McD, if his teams were winning 20-25 games / year and in the NCAA tourney 70% of the time. McD is a very likeable guy and represents the school well.

    HOWEVER

Since he has take over, 0 post season invites and have not even came close to the dance. Has not been competetive in the Big12.

You do realize Fennelly (in a good way) steals stuff from Mac? Think about that...And yes, I know Fennelly has been here longer.

Maybe BF can loan McD one of his red and gold ties.

That's because McDermott's philosophy and style of play are better suited to the unathletic game that is NCAA Womans BB.

If you want to impress me, tell me that Roy Williams, Coach K, Jim Boeheim, etc are "stealing stuff" from GM.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

The two coaches deal with players very differently.

Example: he made it very clear to Alison Lacey last spring that he would "prefer" (that Fennelly-speak for "expect") that she stay in Ames working out and playing with the team over the summer. That was as opposed to playing with the Australian World University Games team.
Meanwhile, Lucca went off and was gone all summer, and came back with a month of school already underway. There's no possible way BF would have put up with Lucca's act. No...way.

Nice, I'd love to see any one of our Sisters show you how unathletic they are on the court.

Trust me, nobody is interested in impressing you. Gueax Tigers!

There's nothing wrong with different styles: both could work on different players. Unfortunately, you-know-who, abused McD's kindness and support. I recall Lacey was gone for a while last season (correct me if I'm wrong) attending her sister's wedding, but she didn't abuse the privilege given by BF.
