    Another translated German article

New Details About Lucca'sSituation - Clone Chronicles

The summary: Staiger was pigeonholed by the staff into being a pure shooter, and this was unacceptable. He will be given an opportunity on this German team to shine as the true star he was always meant to be. Allusions to Cyclones calling him a quitter are unwarranted, because the team wasn't 100% behind his personal goal to make it to the NBA.

It sounds like Lucca's agent wrote this.

Either that, or the other facets of his game needed to be covered up as much as possible.

I don't get why all the hate to Lucca. All he did was get bagged on here for being a terrible defender. If I were him I would've taken the first shuttle away from the people calling for his coach's head and being called a slow-footed college athlete. Now he'll do the same thing and get paid for it while being home.

This is rubbish ! I don't think that he was asked to be a pure shooter just recently. Since when his role has changed ?
Plus, this guy has to be up front with McD if he doesn't like it and leaves the team on the first chance, not during the season.
Personally, how he left the team has destroyed his credibility.

BTW, i just wonder whether he was sent home or had to pay his airfare from Lubbock to Ames ?

I am sure he didn't make the trip. He told Rutter at 7 yesterday morning.

As for the other stuff, maybe he should have proven he could do something else. He never tried to get to the hole, he couldn't defend a 3 speed player let alone a 1 or 2 guard. He never showed he could handle the ball. Maybe you can play point with those attributes in Germany, but it usually doesn't work here.
    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

Exactly ! If he has told McD, "hey, why don't you let me do this" before the season began, I bet McD would have experimented doing certain things with him during the "easy" non-conference games or in the exhibition games. If he can do certain things well, McD would have let him do them because that will help the team.

Keep in mind there is a history of that over here and for that matter with all fan bases. While he is one of “ours” he is stand up, when he isn’t the rules change. Some is probably warranted, most not. All in all it seems unfair I agree.

i think Mac used Lucca the only way he could. Hes not a slasher and he cant play defense, so why not just stick him on the perimeter where hes at his best?

That coach is in for a surprise if he thinks Lucca is a PG. Everyone knew his handle was poor. He had 2+ years to work on it and it never got any better. IMO ball handling is not something that you learn to do great, either you have it or you don't. Rashon Clark worked on it for 4 years and never got good at it. Lucca will never be anything more than a spot up shooter.
