Re: McDermotts future
I'm not going to sift through all the posts to see if this was mentioned but did you see Coach McD's halftime speech? Talk about a snoozer. I know not everyone can be Vince Lombardi but my goodness. Guys were slouched in their chairs with bored faces. I can see how there is a lack of fire from our guys on the court.

Couldn't agree more. I would certainly hope it was a little more in-depth when the cameras were not in the room.

With next year being his 5th.. I dont see any sort of a pool of talent. Talent is having 8 guys of quality Big 12 caliber type talent. Not 2.

I would compare it to Gene Chizik's motivational speeches. There's nothing to get excited about from what I've seen. We need a coach that is gonna get some guys fired up because they play like they lack emotion and motivation. I'd say the only player we have that plays with any fire is Gilstrap and he spent the majority of his college career under other coaches.

I agree with you, and why is it seemingly always a rule that when coaches leave at ISU, things just blow up with players leaving etc.. is this an ISU thing, or a sign of the times? when Orr retired in the mid-90s, did anyone leave with Floyd coming in? (yes I realize that was a senior heavy team, but it didn't seem to be as common for players to up and leave 15-20 yrs ago) Why is it Texas A&M, a relative newbie with having competitive basketball, seemingly had a decent transition from Gillespie to Turgeon? And there are 2 programs in the conference right now that have risen from greater depths of mediocrity, (K-State, Baylor (a program dealing with murderous players), and a third, CU, which is playing much improved basketball compared to where they've been (I would not be surprised if the buffs win in Ames, as Bzdelik has them playing disciplined basketball, a style that ISU seemingly can't comprehend).
I think GMac is a great person from what I read and hear about him, but I really don't think this dog can or will ever hunt even with the entire roster back next year. I was still hopeful until yesterdays game, but that did it for me. There are too many intangible factors preventing this team from playing at a level we expected them to be at. The combination of coaching style, players attitudes and toughness is as equally imperfect as Finzley's 2000 team synergy and game approach was perfect.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. Greg I Love ya, but.....
Greg Mcdermott has not been given the best of circumstances to give us the best basketball teams he could. The Wayne Morgan mess, all of Mcdermotts' first year transfers, Mike Taylor, Wesley Johnson transfer, and now "Luccagate". This is the Big 12 however, and after 4 years, there needs to be positive results no matter the circumstances. Sadly, it just seems like this team is moving backwards. Now, Mcdermott will probably not be let go after this year or the next. If he was let go this year though, "hypothetically", what coaching candidates do you think would be up for the job? For me, I would like to see ISU go after the Dayton coach Brian Gregory and the Old Dominion coach Blain Taylor ( who has the best moustache ever!). Both have had consistent winning records, and each year at their respective schools, they have shown improvement. My craziest wish was if we were able to get Mark Few from Gonzaga but that will never ever happen. I know I will get ripped apart for this thread by the Moderators and some people on this site, but I would like to know what all of you think, and if any of you have any other ideas? Some more healthy debate on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, I have been a cyclone fan since the Michalik days. Gotta love those Slovenians! -

We've been improving. It's just been ridiculously anemic

How is it that the fact that we get better every year just goes right over everyone's head's?

Look at our big 12 standings. As of right now its T-10th\7th (but worst overall w-l of the 4 tied teams), 11th, 10th, 10th (so far).
