On the edge of the cliff....
Why should we just not feel bad for this whole program from the coaches down to the players? No one is performing at all and I'm beginning to feel like it’s a waste of two hours to watch this train wreck unless you drink way more kool-aid than you should. I remember when we mattered in basketball...do you?

At this point, conference championships, national rankings and all don't matter to me. Give me one freaking post season appearance.

you need to raise your standards
Re: On the edge of the cliff....
I think what it boils down to is the fact that ISU is such a large part of all of us. It’s like if we saw a family member getting picked on all the time you’d want to do something but we can’t. All we can do is not go or not watch this team thus losing something we all love. Don’t get me wrong, I want Coach to succeed HERE. I want ALL of our players to develop into all they can be. And I want ISU to matter in a sport where much much smaller out of the way where’s that school located at programs do matter. It takes one player in college basketball to make a team go from an after thought to a contender. We’ve all seen it done before and it can be done again. Let’s Go Cyclones!
Re: On the edge of the cliff....
To all those so upset about the sad state of Cyclone athletics, I offer 2 alternatives. 1. go ahead and jump off that cliff. 2. move to Haiti. It's just a game, played by teenagers!
Re: On the edge of the cliff....
We are at a tipping point, in my opinion.
Went to dinner last night with 4 couples, all who are donors of Gold level or above and have all held season tickets for many years.
All want McDermott to succeed, like him, but are tired of watching how this is going.
One couple has already given up their tickets for next year, and another 2 are wavering for next year. That means potentially 3 out of 4 might not renew and just start going to games on a sporadic basis. These are supporters who have had seats for years and understand the ups and downs of ISU.
They are not making knee jerk reactions, they are pondering decisions and coming to conclusions for themselves based on the state of the program.
In my opinion we are at a breaking point and things are not "all right" at this point.
I am not making judgments, only describing a snapshot of reactions.

Umm Thanks for adding nothing intelligent to a thread and it’s not really just a game when they ask for money to go see it and support it. It is entertainment and a lot of cash goes out to drive it. If it’s just a game why do the coaches make so much? High school basketball is just a game where a coach gets $1,500 for a whole season. I wonder what the attitude of the coaches and players is. Do they think it is just a game? If so we have the wrong crew here because its not. Coaches get bonuses and contract extensions, players get a free education and possibly a chance to make some cash down the road. If you follow the way sports are run they are a business and the coach is the CEO of that team. If it’s just a game why is a hotdog $3 when a whole package is $2 in the store?

What I am saying is, if you jumped off that cliff and ended up with several broken bones, or moved to Haiti, you would have a better understanding of suffering.

Re: On the edge of the cliff....
Wow, no one is claiming to equate ISU basketball, to these human tragedies, except yourself. Wrong comparison, and totally non relevant.
