Beat Nebraska once more. Colorado once. There has got to be one more win somewhere?

I didn't read anyone's response, but your on crack if you think EIU would win in any capacity against this team.

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

Iowa is terrible and the rest of that league not much better. Just like in football.

Let's see how they do against Northwestern. We all know how that one turned out for us.....

Iowa is fundamentally sound, they play defense and they play smart, pretty much everything that we don't do. They are overmatched talent-wise in most games, but Lickliter has them playing very hard, and it just shows that if you give consistant effort and play fundamentally sound basketball, you don't need overwhelming talent to be competetive. Just because they are the Hawkeyes no one on this board wants to even consider that they might just beat us now. Like I said, I don't know if they would or wouldn't, but it wouldn't surprise me.
This. Iowa is improved - any objective person can see it.

It's not a stupid thread and has nothing to do with our B12 losses. Look back at the end of our non conference schedule. We have not made improvements in the basica fundamentals of basketball. Our teamwork is not there.
That is all.
It's not a stupid thread, but it is an interesting dichotomy of how these boards and fan bases process things. Iowa's is identical to this..................
Fan makes a post in mild frustration or just an observance............some of these types are bitter and negative and I don't care for their style either typically. I get the sense you are just stating a point that your team isn't improving and a bad Iowa team "might" be.
Then the holier than thou, who absolutely can't stand their rival come in and lambaste you..............the exact same thing would happen on the Iowa board for what its worth. Once again proving these fan bases mirror each other.
Finally the middle of the road guys who are realistic and try to evaluate things with perspective and honestly. They'll concede the spirit of the post, and then depending on their positivity, will put their own slant on it. Probably something like it is strange how stagnate were are, all the while a team with seemingly limited ability seems to be playing better?!?! I still think we are better though.
Now for perspective I personally don't care. Being 10th or 12th runner up at the homecoming dance still stinks and neither team is going anywhere right now. It is a loser argument if it comes from Iowa, but both fan bases do it and both make fun of each other for the same. When it comes from one of their own it irritates them and all the hostiles come out wondering "who dare say that?" Really when I watch team A beat team B by 20 one week and then lose to them 2 weeks later I'm not sure how anyone could say with certainty. Oh yea I forgot the "rival" thing, of course we ALL know!!!
Lastly if Tar Heel is anything like me, he posts here as opposed to at "home" because Iowa fans who act like some of these are extra irritating because they are one of our own and we expect more. But from a rival it's expected.

Re: Iowa would beat us now
Good grief people, calm down.
ISU would win in Ames, and Iowa would have a decent shot in IC (assuming crowd is 10,000+ IOWA fans).
ISU has lost a lot of players, and is a shell of a team right now. Iowa is improving at a pretty decent rate.
For those that think Iowa has no chance against ISU - I'd beg to differ. Iowa is vastly superior to North Dakota State, and there's a team that had the Clones on the ropes late.
Iowa is improving.
ISU is still better.

We would still win.
However, they will beat us next year in Carver. You can mark that one down.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. If it's not, seek medical attention.

ISU is still better. And neither one is worth a damn right now.
