Could Harrison Barnes have enrolled at NC at semester?

I know football players have done it (Jason Scales). I'm sure Barnes has enough credits to have graduated. Just curious.

Probably , he was already taking college classes. If he had planned far enough ahead, he could have.

Football players do it because their seasons are finished. Doesn't make a lot of sense for basketball players to do it because they want to continue with their team working for a state championship.

All of that Oak Hill Academy talk was way off base last year. He only needed one English class/credit going into last summer. Was approached last year with the offer to be part of the 2009 Class but had no interest because

a) hadn't made a college decision

b) wanted to enjoy his senior year and do something special at Ames High

It would have been stupid to do that because, 1. he would be leaving in the middle of his high school basketball season and 2. this would take away one year of eligibility

Enrolling at semester would have been ill advised, but he could have taken his English credit last summer and enrolled this Fall '09, which would have been a clean sweep.

He has commented about being at Carolina this Summer... I think he wants to win another state title in the meantime...which looks like a given at this point...nobody is even challenging Ames High.

The reason I asked is because some scouting services (NBA Draft Express for one) have him as the #1 Overal Pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He is definately mature enough physically and mentally to play at he collegiate level this year.
