Help on the way?
Do we have enough help on the way with our recruiting class to help this team?
Lets just consider that Brackins, Gilstrap both come back..
Will we be that different with the recruits we bring in. I know little about any of them.

Re: Help on the way?
Phillips is going to be huge next year. I'm hoping he can go off on teams like Mason-Griffin did to us tonight.

Re: Help on the way?
The JUCO guard from Mtown is suppose to be good. If everyone is back, that plays he could be the missing piece. Who knows.

Is he PG/combo/2 guard?

Re: Help on the way?
It's all in the chemistry. I've watched basketball for thirty years, and unless the returning talent just flat slaps me in the face, I've found it impossible to predict. If Brackins and Gilstrap were both back, I would be psyched going into next season. But I put the odds on having both back at about 1 in 20. Gilstrap may actually have less of a chance coming back, because he has the eligibility hurdle, and if he continues on like he has been, how can he pass on the NBA? -
Re: Help on the way?
We'll also have Vanderbeken back. He was our best 3-point shooter last season.

Re: Help on the way?
If both Brackins and Gilstrap came back? Yes, we would be very solid with what will be leaving the big 12 (talking Kansas and Texas here), heck, if Brack and Gil don't leave, no one leaves this team (only other senior is JVB who SHOULD get a medical redshirt).
The issue comes in that the odds of btoh Brack and Gil coming back is realistically like 5%, and the odds of only one coming back is like 50%. They will both be gone because why stay around? I think Brackins learned his lesson, and Gilstrap legitamitely needs the money to support his family - Gilstrap, BTW, is probably the first person I can remember that legitamitely should leave to support his family. All the others that talk about "supporting their familys" are usually just their parents pushing them so they can stop working and buy a $1M house. Gilstrap has earned the right to make some freakin' bank!
Yep, this thread has just been pwned. -

Re: Help on the way?
If Brackins and Gilstrap come back yes... At this point, do you jump to the NBA and spare any value you have left if you were Brackins, or do you try again to be a lottery pick.
Gilstrap... Don't see it. His knee has been shaky on him all season. I'm thinking he will want to cash in and make any money he can.

I think Gilstrap actually wants an education. I would see him coming back if the NCAA granted it. As for Brackins, MAYBE....just MAYBE if he felt like he could accomplish more next year and increase his stock, he would come back.
Still have Garrett, Boozer, Colvin, Buckley, Ham, C-son, Dendymania, and new guys. Could make for an EXCELLENT year IF we could get them all back and work hard in the office season. But I would say if Gmac couldn't pull it together next year with that team.....man, I don't see how you could keep your job.

I like talking about the next year in a thread. It makes me want to actually keep Gmac.

I guess that group excites me none.. I was hoping we had 3-4 new guards to add to the list.

Re: Help on the way?
I just hope the Juco guard has a good basketball IQ. We have athleticism but hardly any of our guys play very smart. Brackins stands straight under the basket when trying to get a defensive rebound leaving the entire lane open. Hamilton is always late at helping out on defense. Gilstrap passes up too many good open jump shots and instead creates a turnover. Garrett and Colvin let the shot clock run down and then foul the hottest shooter in North America. Buckley can't seem to get anything going right.

Re: Help on the way?
Phillips will be a helluva scoring guard, Ejim will be one person on the floor who can defend.
