Re: New Coach for MBB - A THOUGHT with rules
If ISU were to go a different direction, I would take a hard look at Doug Wojcik.

If that is nonsense...then who do you have wise guy? ISU is going to have to pay someone over a mill. a year to get a proven coach.
McD is here for long haul.

Whether that would work out in the long run...who knows?
What I do know is that Gillespie wouldn have zero chance...even if we had an opening.

I think he is the best we could find. He took a school with a similar program to new heights, I think he could do it again here. I just don't think he could take the craziness that is Kentucky basketball. Keno would be good but it won't happen. I would really like to get the guy that's at Memphis, Josh Pastner, that won't happen unless hell freezes over.
This all of course will not happen because Mac will be back so I will support him and his program. stud. every1 shold take a look at his incomin freshman class, insane. calipari who?

UTEP's head B-ball coach Tony Barbee. He's young, enthusiastic, exceptional recruiter, and must be able to coach since he's been able to turn around a non-factor UTEP team in the tough C-USA.
Long time lurker... first time poster.

Re: New Coach for MBB - A THOUGHT with rules
I expect GMac to be our coach for at least the next 2 seasons. If it doesn't work out, I'm in favor of a young assistant coach from a big time program. I don't like mid major re-treads.

Re: New Coach for MBB - A THOUGHT with rules
It's embarassing that we have to hold on to this coach for a few more years. Any other program in the nation has canned the guy after this many years of being at the bottom of the Big 12. He's had the players (and I will admit he has lost many of those players, but whose fault that is is debateable) to compete and hasn't done so. At some point, you have to realize that he is the least common denominator, and Pollard has to somehow find the money to pay him and bring in someone else, or this program is only going to get set back more and more.

I assume you mean we make things worse for the players? (at least I hope that's what you mean.)
I was struck by something that Craig said during the post-game last night. He said that the team has to believe in themselves and it doesn't really matter if anyone else does. It strikes me is pretty sad that he even had to mention this. And it strikes me as really sad that Craig might regret coming back here.

Anything is possible with a big enough check...And doubtful, actually, very doubtful.
