Nice article Chris. Hopefully we can find a way to get back on track. -
Re: Williams Blog: Playing a full 40
This team has yet to play a full 40 minutes, save the Texas game. Even early in the season against the scrubs, our guys didn't have to play hard. We got whisked away by the big wins back then, comparing them to past seasons when we barely could beat these teams.
Playing 40 minutes of basketball for this team is the exception, not the rule. They have not figured that out against UNI, Northwestern, Iowa (win but had to put starters back in), NDSU, Houston, Texas Tech and again - OU.
Different games, same types of mistakes. I wonder how many times of repeating the same mistakes until it sinks in and they learn? I think there have been more than enough learning experiences - but this team just isn't gonna apply it.

I'd also add in your section about fans comparing McD to Fennelly and say things like "I wish the men's team played hard like the women" or "I'm going to support a WINNING program" that no one in the world would probably cringe more over statements like that than Fennelly himself.

Re: Williams Blog: Playing a full 40
The turnovers were clearly frustrating, but that is not the primary problem with this team. They scored 84 points, and they still lost.
We lost this game because we couldn't defend two players.

The same correctable fundamental errors. Different game, same problems.

Re: Williams Blog: Playing a full 40
The schedule to start the Big 12 has been about as bad as it can be. The only two home games have been against teams that have been ranked #1 already this season. All others have been on the road. Even one win is a positive, especially considering the attrition for injuries, suspensions, and going pro.
Its not how you start, its how you finish. Let's see how things go from here on out before condemning the coach or the team.

Exactly. Great point.

Chris,
If you are serious on that promise to break your MacBook Pro over your head, I'll happily supply the comments to bring that to fruition. Then you can collect the insurance money, buy a PC that does twice as much for half the price, and have a big wad of spending money in your pocket. Everybody wins...

I'll race you to it, and maybe Chris can use the rest of the money to buy me a new laptop, just because he can.
“Johnny Orr’s teams wouldn’t have played like this.”
“Eustachy or Floyd would coach this team to a Final Four. We’re wasting talent out there!”
“Floyd would have called a timeout there.”
“Johnny Orr demanded respect!”

We haven't lost them all, that is true, but I have a hard time seeing that as positive.

This should have earned at least a Planet Sub
