Would you be in favor of bringing Larry Eustachy back to Iowa State?
As mentioned in another thread, Larry Eustachy has turned his life around. In addition, Iowa State basketball has not been at the same level since he left. Would you be in favor of bringing Larry Eustachy back to Iowa State as our Head Mens Basketball Coach?

Not a fan of the baggage, but would be open to a second chance for some closure. Maybe he could just live in his RV so we could pay him a very minimal salary until he proves himself again?:jimlad:

He is not exactly tearing it up at USM. I know they are not a hoops hotbead, but he has not even made the NIT or CBI. Maybe ISU was a better fit for him, but I think it would be naive to assume he can recreate what he had here 10 years ago.

No doubt LE was a good coach, but he also inherited most of the players who made him look so successful early on. I'm not so sure he could do it if he had to start from scratch, see USM.
EDIT: Just so we're clear, I don't want him back. We have a coach, give it a break.

It'd be nice to have his fire back. I liked that he looked like he cared if we won or lost.
And we're not going to the NCAA's anymore so really, what's the difference?

He must have had a talent for this since the B12 was the forth conference he won a title in.

Geoffroy is the one who fired him. No way would he bring him back.

No way I would want him back. He was great with a team that wasn't his, but not so great once they were all gone. He has done nothing to make me want him back, happy he got clean though.

Not only did he inherit a McDonald's All-American and catch the biggest break of his career in a juco who didn't even graduate from high school and turned out to be Jamaal Tinsley. Those teams were tough, gritty and got things done here we hadn't seen before. And you know what he did after that? He had some of the worst teams I've ever seen, terrible boring basketball and losing teams, much worse than what we have right now. And he hasn't done a thing in his current job. He had a great two year run, that was it. Wayne Morgan was here because Eustachy was already starting to feel the heat and knew he needed to bring in a recruiter.

You should have asked if people would be in favor of getting rid of President Geoffrey. As long as he is around, there is a ZERO percent chance of us even considering bringing Larry back. And I think President Geoffrey has done as much for ISU athletics in his tenure than anyone. We should want him around forever.
