Re: What are your realistic expectations for Iowa State MBB?
I seem to be in line with the lower level of expectations.
In a decade:
NCAA- tourney 4 years
NIT- I don't really care but probably another year or 2
Conference tourney- Make the championship game once
Conference regular season- finish in the top 2 once

In that 22 year period we made the NCAA 12 times, NIT 3 times, won 2 conference championships, went 14-15 in post season games and had 5 losing seasons.
Roughly that is NCAA 55% of the time, NIT 15% of the time, losing seasons 25& of the time and conference championships 10% of the time.

I wonder what the expectations of the typical Cyclone fan in the 70s were? I would venture that the results achieved in the 80s and 90s far surpassed what many in the 70s thought was possible.
As great as I believe the 80s and 90s were, I truly believe we can aspire to even greater levels. That is why this last decade...especially the last 4 or 5 years has been so frustrating...we have regressed as opposed to progressing.
Re: What are your realistic expectations for Iowa State MBB?
I just miss the days when I would travel around the country and people would ask where I went to school and the conversation would go like this:
"I went to Iowa State" and they would say, "Oh yeah, the cyclones, you guys are really good at basketball aren't you?" and I would say, "Yes, we are."
Now, nobody even knows who we are, or they will say, "Oh yeah, are you guys the hawkeyes?"
