just wondering, when was the last time we beat a top 25-NCAA tourny team

I honestly cannot remember the last time we beat a team thats gone to the NCAA tournament, or a top 25 team..It seems like every other school always knocks off someone worth talking about but if you look at our wins, it seems like awhile since we've had a good win, dont rip me apart for this thread, im just wondering...It'd be nice to get a couple good road wins, or knock off a top 25 at home this season.

UNI last year.

No offense to UNI, they're a good Valley team, but the last time we beat a major power conference tournament team was Purdue a few years ago. That's it..

And that ended up being a "quality win" only because Purdue was iffy at the time of that matchup, but it looked like a solid win later in the season. Had the game taken place in February that season, Purdue would have won it.

And I realized that at the time -- I had a feeling Purdue would improve that season, which made that win "seem" good — but ISU went the other way.

If you're looking for a victory vs. a team that was ranked when we beat them and they also went to the tourney, would it have been #12 Iowa in 2005?

Don't get me wrong, I don't get any satisfaction out of that one victory over UNI, just answering the question. I don't care how "good" of a Valley team UNI is, losing to them sickens me. We should lose to UNI once every 10 years, tops.

Exactly..there is absolutely no reason why we should be losing to UNI. Even though these teams have made the tournament for the last decade.

For a little reference too, since 2000 the Missouri Valley is 10-16 in the NCAA Tournament. Not bad, but it's because of Bradley, Wichita State, and Southern Illinois going to the sweet 16..if you take away those it would be 4-13 or something.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE rooting for Missouri Valley teams in the tournament..they're probably my favorite "underdog" conference to root for, but there's no reason we should be losing to them all the time. Close game? Sure, that's fine but I think we should be winning those games.
