    It use to be an incredible honor to be asked to play in the NCAA tournament. Now if you are mediocre, you will be in the tournament. Why fix what isn't broken? Who plays in the NIT now?

    The ncaa tournament is still one of the most selective postseasons out there even with the change.

    NCAA Tourney (asis) 64/347 18.4%
    NCAA Tourney (new) 96/347 27.6%
    NCAA Football (I-A) 68/120 56.6%
    NFL Playoffs 12/32 37.5%
    MLB playoffs 8/30 26.6
    NBA playoffs 16/30 53.3

    Making the bottom end of the NCAA tourney will be equivalent to making the NIT today. The real question is, if you're in that 66-96 range, would you rather be in the tourney and be done early, or be in the NIT and have a shot at playing many more games?

    I'm not a fan of half the teams getting a bye...So IMO, 64 or 128. Which 128 is probably way too many.
