Halftime Questions
This has baffled me all year....When Iowa State goes into halftime with the lead, they come out flatter than Taylor Swift at the Grammys...Today, they were up 35-31 and within the first 5 minutes, Kansas State rattles off a 17-4 which leads to score of 48-39..this also happened against Texas in the early part of January...What happens during these halftime talks? Its like Mac just tells Iowa State its in the bag....We cannot play 2 halves of basketball, its a question I've wondered ever since the 2 losses to Northwestern and UNI...WHY CAN'T WE PUT TOGETHER 2 HALVES OF BASKETBALL? -
Re: Halftime Questions
Maybe we are just over achieving in the first halfs :)
Actually my theory is that most teams are half asleep when scheduled to play the 10th place team in the league... so we can actually stay close. Halftime comes.. they wake up and play like they normally do.

Reminds me of a former football coach who was real good at winning the first half.

Re: Halftime Questions
Instead of cyclones.com posting locker room celebrations maybe we can get then in the locker room at half and have them post it on facebook. I know it would get a ton of views.
I wish I had an answer to your question. In every loss it seems like we have had 5 minutes of action where we just went brain dead and the opponent reeled off a huge run that ultimately decides the game.

Halftime comes.. they wake up and play like they normally do. there is alot to that, pretty obvious to me KSU came out much more focused and played harder int he second half than they did in the first. KSU forced some turnovers and converted them into points and got the lead and it was over.
Again, we just don't have the good enough backcourt to take control/impose our will/make the big plays in these games. Clemente and Pullen dominated the game. We outrebounded a very good KSU team, held them to 40% shooting, but whenever they needed a big play it was Clemente/Pullen or it was our backcourt turning it over or not getting us into a good offensive set

Re: Halftime Questions
Cancel halftime. Just end it. Have our players shoot free throws for 20 minutes. Just stay the hell away from the locker room.

Re: Halftime Questions
Mac just needs to call a TO 30 seconds into the half to get his team calmed back down and get them organized, instead of wating 3 mins to do so.
The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne -
Re: Halftime Questions
When our guards improve, we will be a better team. The guards are just not competing well enough for us to win against good teams.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
