Just listen to the guy talk basketball. He knows he stuff. Obviously, it doesn't always transfer to the players on the court and that is something he is ultimately responsible for.

I think, as fans, it is easy for us to see what goes wrong during a game and we fail to see what goes right.

I'll say that if McDermott doesn't last at Iowa State, I suspect he'll be very successful wherever he ends up and I don't think it will matter if it is a high major or a mid major. His problems so far at Iowa State can be mostly summed up as luck and circumstance.

I am still 100% in his corner at Iowa State and think he'll get it worked out. I was very happy to see the players come out and play really hard for the entire game on Saturday. We obviously, had our lapses, but I don't think it was effort related, which is great to see. If there is any justice in the basketball world, we will get an upset win or two.

Like RichRod said one day, "It's not like I got here and started taking stupid pills and forgot how to coach."

Maybe this isn't the right fit for him, but he knows basketball.

I think GMac is 0-19 against ranked opponents. That really is a remarkable statistic. GMac hasnt even accidentally pulled an upset. And upsets happen all the time in college basketball.

Look I am just as frustrated as most fans and I have been supporting Mac the entire time. I always wonder how much of the mess you can blame on Mac. He's not entirely "immune" to criticism but it's been a trend lately not just at ISU of players leaving. Seems like some kids these days don't have a sense of loyalty to the schools they commit to or the same desire and passion of what it is to be a Cyclone or whatever team they are as their coaches, teammates, and fans do.

Another example is a coach can coach a kid till he is blue in the face and if that kid still is not executing it on the court other than pulling him from the floor what else can you do? DG is the 1 example of this. He's a 3 year starter and he still makes freshman mistakes. He gave up 4 easy points to start the 2nd half when he didn't take care of the ball at mid court and let KSU steal the ball for 2 easy dunks. We are so thin on the bench right now at some point some of these players need to step up and play smarter. I'm sure it's being coached to them every single day to value the basketball on every possession but the coaches aren't on the floor with the ball making stupid passes or carelessly dribbling the ball where the defender can steal it.
