cykadelic2- I don't know if those players would have stayed any more than you know they would have left. I do know that the coaches felt they were being run out of town well before the end of the season, and I would find it hard to believe that the players didn't know it too. Not a good situation for any basketball program, and common sense tells me that the players may very well have been influenced in their decisions by that fact. Had JP supported Morgan instead of undercutting him, those players may well have never considered leaving, that's also common sense. I also know something about Stinson's situation and had he wanted to stay, I believe his family would have been supported. Interesting comment from Stinson in the paper today about our last win at #2 Kansas. He said Morgan didn't start him for not working hard at a practice. Gee, this from a coach with supposedly no discipline, couldn't coach, but still won at Kansas and other top 10 teams at home and on the road? Seriously, still trying to put down Morgan as undisciplined, a bad coach, cheater, or whatever other slams that are dreamed up on this board is now past the point of ridiculous.
I'm excited about the big men that are coming and actually I think GMac has done a pretty good job overall in recruiting. But recruiting and developing point guards is even more important, as well as putting the whole thing together to get results.
Morgan apologist? There's nothing to apologize for. Morgan took over a program in crisis and had waaay more success than the current coach, who took over a program having success in the previous years. Do we really have to compare the records and accomplishments again? I'm just defending Morgan against the ridiculous criticism, mis-information, and put downs that continue from some on this board. And I didn't predict that HB would have come here if Morgan hadn't been canned, just built the case for why we would have had a better chance to get him if he hadn't been canned. Reasons like continued success, the Sullivan connection, and style of play. I even said if GMac had shown any progress by year 3 we might have had a chance at HB. Just my opinons, but I thought I gave some good reasons why I think we would have had a much better shot at HB with Morgan.
