Dendy is back on campus

Moving beyond the where is Dendy thread, Randy Petersen reported in his chat today that Dendy is back and will be at practice today. Whether or not he gets off the bench on Wednesday night is another question.

Well, the first step is getting him back. I really think that he could be a good player next year for us---probably a starter. I really wish LaRon would see that.

South Carolina got dumped with snow, hence this is why he JUST came back. Their airports are not equipped to handle more than a few inches of snow. I love the rumors on this board "omg he's not back yet, that means he MUST be gone."

Yeah, but when Mac is clearly a little ****** according to his quotes about him not being back sooner, it's not just the weather.

This. He could probably turn his back to the basket and shoot about the same percentage as he does normally. He must be shy so he shoots with his eyes closed in front of the crowd....

True, but according to McDermott he didn't do a great job communicating with the staff as to when he expected to be back. Iowa State bought him a plane ticket, but he didn't tell them the funeral was moved. And then they didn't know he wasn't coming back on Saturday. I've heard LaRon wasn't thrilled with his playing time and he should know that missing a weeks worth of games/practices probably won't help that. Hopefully, he learned a life lesson that communication is important.

to hard on the poor kid, cry, cry, cry... who cares... hes not being called names or anything crazy, hes not 13... when he walks down the street people are putting him down. or yelling bad things to him... most likely they are wishing him well. when he gets on the court i gurantee people will cheer for him... everyone will, every single person... because hes a clone.

this isnt tiny college athletics, its the big 12, and the ncaa is now a 4 billion dollar industry... athletes are going to be scrutinized. the previous comments were just giving him a bit of a hard time... and i think rightfully so. guys make fun of each other all the time, thats what we do... we call each other out, and then rally around each other when its go time... im sure dendy is a big boy and will be just fine with any of the comments... if not, id say grow a pair and erase them on the court.

I don't think the problem as far as Mac is concerned is the fact he is just getting back. I think the problem is he took to long to let anyone know. Supposedly he found out the funeral was moved back two days and took too long to tell the coaches so they could make arrangements. IMO this shows a little bit of a lack of care about the team and program. I don't know about you guys but if I am on a D1 basketball team that is very short on guys and I find out I will need to be gone longer then expected, I will immediately make a phone call to let the coaches know. I don't know how long he waited or whatever but I don't think the issue his him being gone. It was his apparent lack of concern for the team.
