Re: Possible fix to the BB teams problems
I thought this thread was about ISU hiring a new big name basketball coach.

Oh no, it has nothing to do with coaching,
It is a forum for people that have no real argument for believing in this coach, other than blind faith, to sit here and cast stones at people that have real concerns about the program.
The sad part is that you can ask them to sit down and discuss all of this disagreement face to face, and they won't.
I suppose it is easier to insult people when you don't have to answer to them.

If you dont like it dont come here. I would be willing to talk face to face about it if you are buying beers.

It is a thread on how to maybe fix the current situation and not spend a pile of money on a new coach. Just because you make a coaching change doenst mean things will go well after that change. There wont be a change after this season anyway so why not try anything you can to fix problems.

Half of being ready for a game is mental. A psychologist can talk to these guys and maybe figure out how to fix their game day issues. The slow starts and not playing full games is all in their heads. Missing shots and making stupid plays in all in their heads. When the pressure is off this team is when they play their best, but when the game gets tight again they start to mess up, again all in their heads. When Colvin is having a bad game so does DG, but when Colvin plays well so does DG, why is that? A mental thing with DG maybe.
Other advantages are a psychologist can maybe help the team chemisty. This team is said to have some players with ego problems, he could help that. He would be someone eles to talk to when players have an issue with coach or another team member, thus helping the communication problmes with the team. He could head off the problem of players being unhappy.
If you look at the season if this team makes 10 most shots it is a whole different season. If this team plays 40 mins every game the season is really different. I think the pieces are there they just need to be tuned up.
That is all fine and dandy, but the real fix would be to get better guard play.

Yeah I agree Greg McNance er McDermott is smart enough to know that he can lose the next four games and still have a job next year at ISU
Not a bad gig if you can get it...

Am I the only person that has visions of the scene from The Natural when thinking about a psychologist / psychiatrist talking to a team?!?
Re: Possible fix to the BB teams problems
He needs to get a couple decent guards that can handle the ball, penetrate and dish or actually make a layup if they are not picked up. These guys also need to make FTs, have at least a decent outside shot, so teams have to respect their outside shot. There is no one on the current team that can do all of these, and other teams have exploited it well. DG can do some of these thing, Buckley can do some of these things and Christopherson can do some of these.

And he will get a $50,000 raise for next year...no matter what!

"I am willing to bet most of the things posted here would never be said to coach. It is shocking that most of you don't have a DI coaching job somewhere or a TV anaylist job."

I'm pretty sure it is a solution to fix the problem

This post reminds me of that scene in the movie The Natural where they hire the psychologist to help the team out of its funk. Maybe (like in the movie) a few players will walk out and Mac will suspend them.
