Possible fix to the BB teams problems
Mac needs to hire a psychologist. The team has talent. The team hits shots in practices. The team gets what they are to do in practice.
Half of being ready for a game is mental. A psychologist can talk to these guys and maybe figure out how to fix their game day issues. The slow starts and not playing full games is all in their heads. Missing shots and making stupid plays in all in their heads. When the pressure is off this team is when they play their best, but when the game gets tight again they start to mess up, again all in their heads. When Colvin is having a bad game so does DG, but when Colvin plays well so does DG, why is that? A mental thing with DG maybe.
Other advantages are a psychologist can maybe help the team chemisty. This team is said to have some players with ego problems, he could help that. He would be someone eles to talk to when players have an issue with coach or another team member, thus helping the communication problmes with the team. He could head off the problem of players being unhappy.
If you look at the season if this team makes 10 most shots it is a whole different season. If this team plays 40 mins every game the season is really different. I think the pieces are there they just need to be tuned up.
Re: Possible fix to the BB teams problems
Or give them testosterone shots so they can grow a pair.
Re: Possible fix to the BB teams problems
I won't even dignify that post with a comment.
Re: Possible fix to the BB teams problems
That would be amusing.
I think a lot of this team's problems are mental. For the first time last night, I thought the guys came out and looked like they thought they would lose. It wasn't a lack of effort (first half OSU), but just a lack of believing in themselves. I give them credit for fighting through that.
They have got to be the best team in the country at coming back when down by 10 or more points. All season long, they've fought back from pretty big deficits. They have rarely gotten over the hump and they've given up plenty of leads, but put these guys down by 14 and you are sure to see a team fight. I'm not sure what that means as far as basketball goes, but I think it shows what kind of people they are.

Why not. There is book after book on the mental aspect of sports. What Mac is doing now isnt working so why not think out of the box. State your case to why you are too good to comment on this.

You might want to ask Dana Altman how that approach is working this year? One of the best in the business, Jack Stark, has put in a lot of time working with the Creighton hoops team. He isn't getting the same results that he got credit for with some of Osborne's national championship teams.

I am sure the athletic department has someone to help in this area. They used to, and almost every college athletic dept. at this level does

How long has Altman had a psychologist working with his team? At this point isnt it worth a shot? Something needs to be done or a pile of money will be spent and we will be starting all over.

Yes, it would help them mature physically. Serousily, the team has played like a bunch of girls in most of their losses. If you don't think so look at foul totals.

So instead of offering answers you call the team a bunch of girls, classy.

No offense to anyone else but that post is funny as hell. In all honesty it actually probably wasn't intended to be serious at all but it may have a little truth to it. Sure the team plays with effort but we have yet to see them walk out on the court this year with that look in their eyes like they are going to kick the ever loving **** out of the other team and wipe the court with them. Maybe this team could use a little bit of a mean streak.... A little take no prisoners attitude....

My answer is for them to toughen up, they play soft. I guess if a quack can get them to do that, get it set up. Try to light a fire under the whole bball progams *** somehow.
