Funny how Peterson doesn't mention that in the article. That means that he's either: incompetent (because he's covered this stuff long enough to know that), or he's sensationalizing that aspect of the story. I'm sure that once ISU is able to file that paperwork, they will.

I believe you can file the paperwork at any time. It appears this is on ISU's timetable:
"The request for a hardship waiver from the NCAA won't be made until Iowa State gathers the necessary information, ranging from medical records to interviews, said Mike Green, Iowa State's associate director of athletic communications.
"Iowa State expects to find out whether Gilstrap will have a fifth year of eligibility sometime in March, Green said."

I'd bet another kid on the way may have changed his mind. I don't expect him back and it wouldn't surprise me if ISU never files the appeal. Hence the offer to Clyburn.
