Antwon Oliver
Is he a 2 or a 3? I'm hoping he's a 2, but I really don't know his game.
-
IMO Both
Oliver only played a few minutes in an exhibition game, but he has the length to play SF and appeared to have the quickness to play SG. The competition level was much lower, but he really added a defensive spark in the few minutes he played.

Re: Antwon Oliver
I just hope he is an exceptional ball handler and can create for his teammates.

Re: Antwon Oliver
I don't believe ball handling is one of his strengths. If it was, with his size and athleticism, he'd be a lot more highly touted than he was.

Re: Antwon Oliver
He falls somewhere in between. He doesn't handle the ball well enough or have the natural stroke of a 2, but he's a bit on the small side, both in height and length to be considered a classic 3.
I hope he sticks around because he's an explosive player that can bring a defensive tenacity and above the rim, versatile game on offense. He's extremely raw, but there is potential there. I think his upside is definitely higher than Charles Boozer, but will never be as good as a Rahshon Clark.

I was really hoping someone wasn't going to say he falls between. That usually means they aren't really great at either.
If he was Rahshon good with some nice ball handling that would be great. I could really excited about that.

That is probably true. I wonder why we used a scholarship on him vs signing a true guard.

Re: Antwon Oliver
I just hope he stays. He'd be very comparable to Rahshon Clark. Very lengthy, but not the greatest ball handler or shooter. I think he could play the 2 or 3 depending on the lineup we wanted to go with. He could wreak havoc on the defense end of the floor and in the up-tempo game. He's an exciting player from everything I've seen and heard.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Well I don't want to say that. He's not a terrible shooter, but he needs to spend a lot of time working on his release and getting quality reps in the practice gym. His ball handling will most likely never be great, but I think he'll be able to tote the rock better than Rahshon could.
He's definitely closer to a 3, but he's rail thin and it would be nice if he were 6'6" or 6'7" instead of being in that 6'4"-6'5" range. I'm not going to say that an inch here or there and 25lbs is going to be his downfall, because a quality player can overcome that.

Re: Antwon Oliver
I've only watched him play in person a couple times, and I haven't seen him live since Nov. so his game could be improving, but to me and based on everything I've heard about AO, the ability is there, it's just a matter of how hard he wants to work to improve his skills and mold himself into a better basketball player.

He did look like he had a nice game during the exhibition games.

I dont want to be a smart *** or sound mean but the last thing this team needs it another player that is an average scorer.

Re: Antwon Oliver
Remember reading something saying he was recruited to play the 2.
