Clyburn and Wilkins are guys we may be looking at. Other than that I don't know. I think Mac was likely waiting to make sure they were leaving.

My point is most of the real good talents are gone at this point.

The staff has been actively recruiting for all possible scenarios. Its not like they will just be starting from scratch with some of these kids. They knew the chances of having one or both of CB and Quez back were slim and more likely none. They had an idea that someone else may leave as well. They have been recruiting for the worst possible scenario for several months.

Yes, very true, but if you don't know what you have to replace then you cannot just go out and grab guys.

The point is valid. While McDermott might be lucky enough to find a diamond in the rough like Mike Taylor or Wes Johnson, chances are most likely better he will stumble upon Marcus Brister or Clayton Vette. Spring signees are typically fall back guys, not guys you build a program around.

Circumstances with Gilstrap/Brackins certainly created the problem, but the point itself is still accurate.

Just don't expect a guy signed at this point to be a Gilstrap type of player. However, yes one of them could turn into a Mike Taylor.

That may be true... but I honestly can't remember an ISU team that didn't sign at least somebody in the spring signing period. Most teams who are in our position our recruiting hard in the spring. Usually it seems more Jucos are available than High schoolers at this point.

Being a spring signee has nothing to do with how good you are. There are high school recruits in the top 50 that still haven't signed with somebody.

That is also true. Problem is a lot of that is because of academic problems even at there Juco or character issues. Most of the JUCO's that play go on to D1 were good enough to do so out of HS as well. Remember there is a reason they are at JUCO's. There are risks when you sign these guys.
