My biggest concern for next year's team...
... is the lack of shooters.
I'm probably one of the few Cyclone fans that is not that worried about losing CB and MG. We weren't any good with them here, so why should we miss them that much? We can't hardly be any worse.
GMac has proven, at UNI, that he can win with a team of good perimeter shooters. But we don't have any good outside shooters here at ISU. Who is going to put it in the basket from long range besides Scotty next year?

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
The thing about losing CB and MG is we lose our two reliable rebounders. Rebounding and shooting will be the concerns heading into next season.

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
Diante needs to step up and hit the open shots. I think he can shoot reasonably well, but just doesn't. I think Ham and Dendy can step into the rebounding role pretty well, especially if they box out, something that was really lacking this year. -

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
Replacing lost rebounding or shooting is seldom as big of an issue as people make it out to be. Remember all of the worrying about losing Rashon & Jiri? A team puts the replacements in a position that they get about the same number of "default" rebounds. Basically the ones where they have inside position for defensive rebounds. The true ball hawks will find a way to secure a few more offensive rebounds, but most rebounds are gained by using a total team concept.
In terms of getting shots, the most important issue is to value the ball. If you don't turn it over, someone else will be taking the shots that Craig & Quez were putting up this year. There should be enough experience coming back to work for getting a good shot for one of the 5 guys on the court.

DG was looking good shooting the rock later in the year. Boozer made some really nice strides right before he got hurt, hopefully he recovers well. And, like farmin said, if JVB is healthy and playing well it could be interesting.

Like you I am not that worried. I do worry about who will fill the rebounding role of Marquis, not so much Craig because I can see Dendy stepping in there. Replacing the scoring will have to be a team effort. I could really see us having 4-5 guys averaging in double figures. This will be team ball next year with more talent than we have had playing that style. It will be interesting and I am excited.

Craig's misses on 3 pt attempts seemed to usually be too flat and weren't very forgiving around the rim.

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
Next year will be a repeat of the last four. Needless to say, we will all have ourselves convinced that we will be better by the time the season rolls around only to have our hearts ripped out when conference play starts. It's what fans do!

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
Lack of shooters, did you see this season? Scotty will be better at 100%, DG found a shot late in the season, Ham will get more touches he hits his shots, Dendy gets open around the hoop, if Colvin can learn to finish that will help, the JUCO guys can score. I think it could be a better shooting team than this year.

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
My biggest concern is the lack of Big 12 players and coaches we have. Other than that were going to be fine. I mean we do have 3 starters back.

Re: My biggest concern for next year's team...
My biggest concern for next year's team is that it's just another painfully slow step, marking time until Pollard can afford the buy-out in 2014. Maybe the Athletic Dept. can start renting out the upper-level of Hilton on game days for wedding receptions and bar mitzahs in order to raise a few bucks for the cause.

I can even see a curtain going up to cover the balcony, like they have at Wells Fargo this week for the Boys State Tourney.
