Why aren't we in the NIT?

Not venting. Just answering the question. We didn't get invited because our record (especially conference record) sucked. It's just that simple.

Good point.

The reason I started this thread was that I recalled a few years ago when we had a similar record, there was talk that we didn't want an invitation to the NIT.

If there was post season play, the players leaving would have waited until after.

I think it would have been good for the team/program to have some post-season beyond the Big 12 tournament.

It doesn't seem like we are "above" it, considering that North Carolina, Connecticut, and Illinois are in it. There is only one Big 12 team (Texas Tech), plenty of lesser teams (Troy, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville), and some New England teams apparently to draw a regional crowd.

I seem to remember something around the end of the Wayne Morgan era when we made clear that we didn't want to go. Perhaps we are still paying for that posture.

Maybe because rpi.com said we were only the #120 best eam in the land. We woiuld not have made the CBI. If we had beaten UNI and NW, we may have been considered.
