1st Time: MBB Season Tickets 2010/11
I plan on purchasing a few MBB season tickets for the first time next year.
Question: With the talk of former season ticket holders bailing on the program..... do you think I can reasonably expect decent seats next year? I'm a member of the Cyclone Club at the gold level.

If you like the balcony you will like your tickets.

How many seats are in the lower sections of Hilton? And how many seats are reserved for students?

I don't think that gold will definately put you in the parquet.
We give $500 and sit in row 3 of the balcony, center court. Honestly, balcony seats are pretty great in Hilton.

You'll probably get upper center balcony seats or mid non-center balcony seats at that level. Personally, I don't think it was worth the 4x the money for those type of seats than the $99 seats.

I'm in Captains and I still get the $99 corner seats, I just can't rationalize $1000 for 2 seats in the parquet, but I don't mind sponging off buddies who have them once in a while -

Arena Circle: 1,590 seats
Parquet: 4,078 seats
Total: 5,668 seats
of those...
Arena Circle: 894 students (plus 120 possible in the section for the pep band)
Parquet: 762 students

This is a excellent time to order tickets because of some fans not ordering tickets next year.

There will probably be some movement. But most will be in the balcony down to Parquet, and within Parquet, in my opinion and here is why.
1. Most of those giving up seats will likely be balcony. There will be some lower level movement, but not that much.
2. It takes $2,500 minumum to be able to get 4 seats.
3. For many that have them, they have either waited a long time to get them, or have had them for a long time, even with current basketball struggles they will be not likely to give them up.
4. Even if they do, there are still many at Captains level on waiting lists to move down, that have been balcony for many years (I know at least 2 personally). These will move down first.
5. At this point, you would almost have to jump to the next level above Captains to get seated this next year (unless it totally falls apart). This is what some have done the last few years.
6. Many of the seats are sponsor seats, corporate seats, etc. Whether that is good or bad, who knows, but the seats pay the bills empty or full.
7. Given this pricing, that is why this past year the ushers were more stringent this past year on having the Parquet ticket to move down. I think it is a reaction of complaints from football mini-paks.
(Not arguing pro, or con, just listing.)
Just my opinion.

Why would you get season tickets? It would be cheaper to get single game tickets untill you realize that we are going to be no good

However, I haven't bought season tickets for basketball since the early eighties (when I was a student). Now I have one kid thats a freshmen at ISU and two more that will be enrolled in the next 1- 3 years after high school.
If I'm going to be forking out the tuition for three kids (and a three bedroom apartment), the wife seems to think its a good idea to show up once and a while and check-up on our investment.
